Yeah, Karin even stated "welcome to BBC News from BBC World". Nice opening eye level shot of the desk.

I wish they would say BBC News from BBC World all the time, at the moment its a farcical situation of the titles saying BBC WORLD during normal World Hours and then for five hours of the day they see sense and call it BBC NEWS!

Oh dear god, are you STILL going on about that? You have been banging that drum for literally years, and as far as I can tell you seem to be only person on this forum, perhaps in the world, who actually gives it any consideration.

Is it not time to move on? Have you not wasted enough of your life - and everyone else's - on this issue?

its merely a presentation observation on a presentation forum, but since you always get onto a stiffy regarding this issue, i'll keep my mouth on this issue shut for all eternity!

As to wasting my life, I only wasted 7.25 minutes in total on the issue!

Harshy - it is very annoying and you seem to be the only one bothered about it. So please let it go for our sake!

Guys, I am with Harshy on this one.

I recall the days when BBC World brand was a strong and much trumpeted affair when it was announced at the start-up of every bulletin, in the two flag eras primarily. It was announced as though it were something to be proud of. As a Brit living abroad for many years and in many remote locations, it was always heartening to hear the words: 'This is BBC World. Broadcasting from London", and so on.

However, since N24 arrived on the scene and there has been a gradual overlaying of combined output, it makes logical sense from a business perspective that shared resources means there will be a need to have generic titling on occasion.

I have also never understood why the current titling doesn't simply appear on screen as "BBC World News", as opposed to the "BBC World" gutter at present. (Simulcast bulletins aside, of course.)

Anywway, it's just my opinion, as a BBC World "Traditionalist". Please let's not start a fight about this.

Perhaps it's to do with the fact that 'BBC News' is becoming more of a brand since the term BBC Online was dropped. For international viewers, the BBC point to bbcnews.com . BBC World's website is much more of a publicity tool for the channel itself, it's schedules and it's availablility.

I agree though that BBC World seems to be a much weaker brand than it used to be! BBC World News was the branding for much of the day until about 2000...

As has been pointed out before. The titles for BBC World News are titled "BBC WORLD" as this follows in tradition with all other BBC News programmes. BBC N24 titles say "BBC NEWS 24" its just using the same format for all programmes.

thats strange, I thought the Vizrt graphics were overlayed on top of the clean feed and the only thing that would be visible was video and the Live graphic. perhaps BBC World has a copy of the News 24 dog/clock and vice versa.

Well it would make sense if it was during a simulcast produced by N24 (ie - overnights) but not during the day when there no simulcasts happening...

"This is BBC News from BBC World im Nik Gowing in Westminster" followed by a few headlines then Mishal at the desk then News 24's overnight night sting music with some short titles with pictures of Tony Blair then finishing with 'Blairs Departure'
