Yeah, only for the European. Very Happy
It's European breakfast news. I remember seeing such description of the programme on Wikipedia or somewhere...

But it's too early and too short. Before they had that different music for the first 3 hours, when Martin Dennis anchored it. Anyway it would be better with 2 presenters all day long.

I am in the minority here, but I preferred it when they used to open with the one presenter, because it seems to be forgetten that BBC World News has a Business Presenter and a Sports Presenter, so why do BBC World News have to open with a news presenter and a business presenter makes no sense to me at all.

I'm with you, harshy. I've never understood why the business presenter opens the bulletins with the news presenter. I much preferred it when just the news presenter opened the programmes.

On the subject of BBC World, I've just been looking at some new clips on TV Ark of BBC World from 2000. How great was the channel back then?! Today's version looks poorer than it did back then. I first watched BBC World in 2000 and, indeed, its presentation was the reason I decided to look up TV Pres on the internet. I really do miss those days. It all started going downhill in 2004 and hasn't recovered.

Off course the BBC World you love so much was losing a lot of money for the BBC and under imminent threat of closure.

Where as the BBC World we have now is actually making a bit of a profit and while the rest of BBC News is having its budget slashed, BBC World is the only part of TV News which is increasing its programming and having money invested into it. Must be doing something right.

I don't know if it's pres wise or not, but lately it's just been...dull. I don't mean "add more fluff stories", it's just been...dull. Also, I think the current set is distracting, with the bright reds, so maybe that's the cause. It's just not as interesting as CNNi. I know the journalistic intergrity is still there, but it's just not stimulating. At least they will get new sets late 07 or early 08.

Well it might be making a profit, but I think it looks cheap and nasty. That's probably the reason why the channel is making a profit! The journalistic content is still excellent, as it is BBC News, but presentation-wise, it looks very poor now. Compare the current idents and studio/newsroom to the ones launched in April 2000. There is no comparison.

I am glad it is doing well, but while the core product has got stronger it has as itsrobert says lost the quality presentation touches it once had, the 2000 breakfiller had awesome music, BBC World News made much better use of the set, used clever camera trickery to make the set look bigger, excellent presentational stings making the viewer realise they are watching the BBC's global international news channel, now its turned into a poor mans BBC News 24!

This time seven years ago we criticised how bad BBC News 24 was, but the channel has come on leaps and bounds since but BBC World has been taken in a backward direction, I would go as far to say that the last two looks are in comparison to the history of the channel their worst looks by far.

I'm currently in San Francisco right now and I just saw the "Big Al" on BBC World (on air on PBS 6pm PDT). In Orlando, Florida, same channel, I saw Peter Dobbie (in London) and Justin Webb (in Washington) I assume 6pm or 9pm EDT. Unreal!
