Alan Johnston's dad (Graham Johnston) was on World News Today (Alagiah)... He's asking to "let my son go, now, today"... Just like what the BBC's Palestinian bureau was asking...

I just thought I'd mention that Mishal Husain is taking part in BBC2's new reality programme, The Underdog Show. Eight celebrities have been given an untrained dog and they have to train it to complete obstacle courses and perform tricks each week. Mishal did really well in the first show last night - she came top with the judges, scoring 24 points out of a total of 30.
I'm sure James will be pleased to hear that Selina Scott is also taking part!

Good Lord! I wish we got BBC2 out here! Selina and Mishal on the same programme! Dream come true!
I enjoyed BBC World's "three-way" tonight, anchored by Lyse Doucet, Nisha Pillai and Ben Brown. (Nisha of course in London, Lyse in Amman and Ben in Baghdad).
It was a crisp, quality, factual hour of news and analysis. Nice and tidy stuff.

That was a messed up top of the hour. No headlines, just vision of the presenters, the thunderclaps were out of time, blame Matt for starting to late! and when David was reading the last headline the titles starting playing, not in vision but just the music then when he finished it cut to the titles.

Extremely long play out at the end of TWT, with Martine Dennis, long aerial shot and what seemed like acres of music.
So great to see a proper "ending" to a bulletin on World.

Oops. Asia Today a bit screwed up there: introduced story followed by the wrong film, then immediately intercepted by a further wrong film that was played out to completion.
Apology from Geeta. Proceeds to introduce the next story, which is the one which should have accompanied the mistaken film above, which they proceed to play out entirely again to completion.
Further apology after that from Geeta, and then they eventually manage to play the original report associated with two stories up.
Upon completion, further apology from Geeta and we have run out of time so we have to ditch the last story altogether.
