Look like Damian "the eye" Kovacs has some more videos...

But then again, so have I.

i'm quite impressed with the new titles. They do remind me of Sky News, but the titles "swish" more and are very nice.

Peter Dobbie was on TWT this morning! Oh how I have missed his dulcet tones! I have not seen him since he left N24 for World. Plus there was no ticker during the show - just the BBC News DOG with no clock.

I wonder whay they persist in having two versions of red - why not make the DOG and the red panel next to it the same colour?

Possibly because one red comes out of the BBC news studios, and the other comes out of the BBC World playout area. I think they're inserting "BBC WORLD" on top of the normal output.

This is why all the 4:3 filler presentation stuff is still the old version, including the weather, break filler and the little 2-second animations they do before/after ad breaks.

The break filler has a small bit of the new graphics in it, but only where the videos were dynamically updated anyway. It really doesn't fit together anymore.

(Bring back the old breakfiller ... having videos for videos sake is lousy, and it was far nicer reading news stories typed onto the screen. Sky News UK's international feed does a very nice similar thing now).

Was the breakfiller always "BBC WORLD" with an in-line logo? Or did it have a BBC on top of the word WORLD last week?

Yes, the DOG on the breakfiller has always been horiztontal rather than stacked. The stacked version was only used on the countdown, the news and during pre-recorded programmes.

Intrestingly, 2003 wasn't the first time BBC World used a stacked version of the logo. I noticed when downloading some videos that when BBC World rebranded in 1995 (prior to that, it was BBC World Service Television), the DOG was the stacked version all the time.

I'm glad BBC World are now using the News In Brief vamp on more bulletins than just TWT. They're now doing approx. two NIB segments in each bulletin. The addition of the punchy vamp really helps to make the channel feel faster paced. It did have a rather slow feeling compared to News 24 - not any more.

You are so right. BBC WORLD has become very watchable and fast. The NEWS IN BRIEF segment has really kept things in order. You can feel the sense of continuity before and after the breaks. The channel is more relaxed. You can tell the anchors love it. eg. Peter Dobbie on TWT. It was really fun when it had to be. They can add a touch to it, instead of being told what to say, and how to say it. Before it looked static and robotic to me Very Happy.

Atleast they were able to step out of their comfort zone.
One thing that remained the same is BBC jounalism.
Remember they were also scared.

Yes, I noticed that too. I guess the 5 second thunderclap vamp put a lot of stress on many news readers, Jonathan Charles by far being the worst.

Oh dear. Looks like all the videos in the break filler today have their field dominance set wrongly. That's why you see all that judder in the 50Hz motion.

Nice new look, I have to agree. But they still cannot place name straps at the right time or do the headlines sequence properly (that is: perfectly). It's such a shame having to be so negative, but over at CNN something rarely goes wrong in terms of graphics.

Let's see for how long everything will be running smoothly...

The new countdown music is very nice I must say but I don't really like the way it seems to be 1 second out-of-sync. I know they meant to do that but its not the same now as it used to be with the bangs at 46, 38, 30, 22, 18, 14, 10, 06 etc. It just seems wrong now even though technically it is more accurate...
