on the few TOTH's I've seen today on World, the news presenter has begun immedately with the headlines and not introduced themselves.
Following the countdown both Nisha and Nic started the headlines (with the usual wide shot of the two presenters) and then after the titles, said "Hello and Welcome".
Do you think this is a new format?
The only silly thing is that the previous headline bed remains. So for the first 5 seconds while they are talking they have the recap bed and then suddenly it changes to the usual one without thunderclaps.
No thats the way it always used to be so this change is merely a change back to the way it was a few years ago. Saying "hello, this is BBC News from BBC World" before the headlines is really unnecessary since the voice at the end of the countdown practically says it anyway!
Is the so-called new opening format still being used? I have not tuned in for quite awhile.
It's been back to normal on all bulletins that I have watched today - i.e. the opening words are the two presenters introducing themselves. (And yes, Geeta G-M actually DID remember that Tanya Beckett was sitting alongside today).
Smooth. Alistair Yates recaps his bulleting with the "main news again": Shane Warne has confirmed his retirement. Show vt of press conference and Shane Warne confirming.
Break.
Sport Today: "Reports that Shane Warne will confirm his retirement from international cricket later today".
Do they share resources?! Or are the news people more clued up on sport than the sport people?
