Oh, so its a regular feature now? I saw the shot during Tony Campion's bulletin.

Much better! .. It's a pitty they won'td rid that bazaar image in the plasma, and replace it with the programme titles!

(with the new shot, the desk really does look on the smaller scale compared to the one on the Washington set....)

Has the return of an 'old favourite' happened yet? Personally I was hoping for Jane Dutton, but then I read that she has landed a job as Doho based newsreader for AJI. I keep meaning to ask, is there to be a further edition of World News Today launched? It's good that World is starting to revitalise its schedule, if only they would cut down on the 7 showings of HARDtalk!

I suggested something like this a few days ago if they adopted the national style titles and panned in instead of aerial shot!

That looks nice that shot, where the red bit of the desk is, is that meant to be lit?

Hmm, it used to be lit. Maybe the bulb blew and they keep forgetting to pick up a new one next time they pop down Tesco. I thought I'd read months ago that Katty Kay had left BBC World, so howcome she is back to cover the mid-term elections? Where is Daljit these days?

Katty was on maternity leave wasn't she?

Daljit was a freelance temp stand-in.

That low shot has been used on World opening sequences for quite some time actually.

Cant they have World News Today with George standing infront of the desk with the plasma beside him? Laughing

The nationals camera move is usually a pan, track, depress, crab and zoom combined, which requires a person to be behind the camera AND A flat-ish floor.

BBC World don't have either of these in their newsroom, so they would not be able to do the crab and track element, though they could do a depress and zoom (as News 24 have in the past) - with pan if needed.

The 'old favourite returning' is Mishal Hussain.

The desk is supposed to be lit but the lighting has been broken for a few months now, it is supposed to be getting fixed.

You sure its getting replaced? Alot of things in the old set were never replaced.. and ive noticed a few more bulbs have blown or been switched off!
