Good point. The current titles are very plain. It's basically a red globe with red swirly things and text flying round. If you study a high quality copy of the 2000-2003 titles, they contained a lot of detail.

the biggest mistake, presentation wise, BBC News have made is to get rid of Lambie Nairn. The sets were warm and inviting yet authoritive and the titles / stings etc were excellent. The new titles are just basic and unimaginative compared to the previous era.

yep I loved the beige, china red look, BBC World made the best use of it, the presentation was really really good, it's all gone to pot in just three years

Well I am a fan of the old look and find it to be one of the best ever on news channels, but here are 2 pics of the titles. I love the new one too but the old one was so much better. Red,yellow colors were wonderful,it was fast and dynamic. But the thing that was simply the best was the music. It had more beats and was faster, also there were many versions of it. The current mix is dull and not very good.

The old one was much better, BBC World made the best use of it, no doubts there, it can't be said now though.

Oh come on, I remembered so many people said that the flags era was so much better than the cream-china red era, me included before it relaunched...

I think we can safely say that the current era won't be fondly remembered in years to come, though. The flags and cream/red eras were imaginative designs with excellent music. The current titles are plain, simple and boring with a poor remix of music. They look and sound cheap and nasty.

I forgot the ticker used to look like that. Who in their right mind chose orange and light blue for it? It didn't match the graphics at all.

It blended in better than the bright white ticker does now.

I agree - the flags eras (both of them) were very good times on BBC World. (The first era was during the generic BBC News "Virtual Studio" period, and the second flags era was when the presentation moved entirely into the newsroom, with slightly different flags and very new music).
During both, there were very solid and sturdy schedules, with several milestone bulletins during the day - Newsday (Philip Hayton and Melinda Wittstock), BBC Newshour (Alastair Yates and Lindsey Brancher), BBC Newshour Asia Pacific (Stephen Cole, Peter Dobbie and Nisha Pillai) and, of course, The World Today (Donald MacCormack and Nici Marx).
Other presenters would appear across all of the output as secondary co-presenters of all of the above programmes, or as individual presenters on the other hourly news programmes (Hanrahan / Pillai / Pike / MacNaught / Dobbie / Coe / Finighan / Ahmed / Navaratnam / Garapedian / Sanderson / Yates / Tye..........and many more.....)
Anyway - seperating myself from the nostalgia for a moment, and my next statement is one that I, especially, am not prone to making and for those of you who know me, will know that it is quite out of character - but have any of you also noticed that the general grooming and appearance of BBC World's presenters has improved dramatically in the last week or so?? I have noted that the male anchors have generally appeared better groomed and in the last few days, Tanya Beckett, Manisha Tank and Phillipa Thomas have all appeared looking fabulous and splendidly turned-out on their bulletins. (Manisha and Tanya particularly last Friday..........)
Anyway, just an observation. Maybe it was just a WBR monthly night out!!
