Jonathan Charles was good today. I can now see where and why you all rate him as a capable and enjoyable to watch anchor.

Agree with the theme of your two posts above, Rob, although some of the former opt in and out problems have all been sorted now, which is a relief.

Like most of you, I am very much in favour of having a proper closing at the end of the bulletins. The peripherals (WBR / AT / ST / TW) all have their own proper endings, so I don't know why the main news can't!!

Jonathan is rapidly becoming the Mike Embley of BBC World. He's on practically every day covering one shift or another. The two editions of World News Today at 1100 GMT which I have seen this week were presented by him. WNT gave him the opportunity to banter with Tanya. He is a very capable presenter. Far better than some of the other relief presenters they have had over the years.

By the way, I was looking at some old still images I have of BBC World the other day and realised that Jane Dutton no longer presents on the channel. Has anyone seen her recently on other programmes/networks? In case you've forgotten/don't know who she is, here's a pic:

Anya Sitaram is on!! First time I've seen her in months.

Jane Dutton - I remember her brief spell at World, although remember her more from her several years at CNN London. Not sure where she is now or what she's doing. IIRC, she appeared on BBC World for the first time, roughly at the same time as Lucy Hockings transitted from production to presenting. They both shared weekend duties on BBC World for several (around 3 or 4) months, I think.

Yes, nice to see Anya back. Although, there were two minor cock-ups at the TOTH. The headlines aston was one step ahead of the presenter, so the director took it off and for some reason the director held on the overhead studio shot for several seconds after the titles.

Yes, I remember that Jane Dutton presented around the same time as Lucy at weekends. I think they only used her when they were very stretched (i.e. when two or more of the main weekend presenters were off at the same time). I don't remember her ever presenting a weekday bulletin.

There are loads of presenters I have stills of who have long since disappeared without trace....Aruna Iyengar, anyone?

Aruna presented Business on BBC World during the time of the renovations of the newsroom in 2004 didnt she? The name sounds familiar and im sure I remember seeing her during that time.

Doesn't Aruna now also appear on CNN?

Another cock-up at the TOTH just now - in a double header with Anya Sitaram and Sarah Stirk. After doing the headlines, and the final overhead shot just before Anya's face-on shot, her mic came on a few seconds too SOON (as opposed to late, in the posts mentioned above), and she could be clearly heard to say something to Sarah, such as "let's just get this done", or words to that effect.

It must be the week for trainee sound men.

Ciao Maltese!

Sarah Stirk is a Sportscaster on BBC World. She is presenting Sport Today right now, in fact.

Anya Sitaram is one presenter I never really liked, she looks like she's angry all the time.

Last time I saw Jane Dutton, she was doing hosting duties on CNN Today, the European breakfast programme, although this was a while ago. I think she's a freelance.
