By the way, does David Jessel still present on BBC World? I haven't seen him in months (admittedly I don't get much time to tune in these days). It would be a terrible shame if he's given up broadcasting as he was always excellent.

I posted a cap of him on Asia Today a few weeks ago!

Matt Frei has been presenting WNA on location in and around Washington. First outside the White House, and now some random street. Are they doing work in the studio?

Philippa is in studio currently

Is that the daily BBC Two Newsnight, or the weekly "Best of" show made for News 24, or a BBC World version of the News 24 show? (There are some films that could air domestically but not abroad for rights / confidentiality reasons)

Not sure Noggin. BBCA are running promos.

From Media Week John Consoli

FEBRUARY 13, 2008 -

BBC America will air a new weekly news show called Newsnight, which will air every Friday at 10 p.m., beginning on Feb. 29.

Newsnight will be produced by the same team that produces a nightly news show by the same name in Britain.

The weekly show in the U.S. will feature a blend of news, features, investigations, interviews and discussions. It will be anchored by British journalists Jeremy Paxman, Kirsty Wark, Gavin Esler and Emily Maitlis.

Beware - World News Today from Washington was axed from BBCA's schedule after a few weeks. It was replaced by WNA. If ratings wont hold, they will axe newsnight too.

Wasn't that because the show was essentially relaunched as WNA when BBCA ponied up more cash for the BBC World news provision? It isn't like WNT was dropped - it was relaunched?

I´m very happy to watch BBC News 24. This channel is reachable in Eastern Europe these days on my digital 80cm satellite (free to air on Astra 2A, 11,954H, 27500, 2/3). I hope that this will last.

So what happens now at 03h00 GMT? Is it WNT on BBC World and BBC News 24, with a rerun of WNA on BBC America or is it WNA on all 3 channels?

Alastair Yates is providing excellent rolling coverage of the shooting at a university in Chicago. He's really demonstrating what an excellent broadcaster he is - he's seamlessly going between reading the news wires and speaking to correspondents. No stumbling whatsoever.
