I think you are referring to Navdeep Dhariwal?

I haven't seen her on the channel for many weeks now. I recall the time on World where we would religiously see the same 3 presenters working EVERY weekend - Adrian Finighan, Anita McNaught and Mike Embley.

Lately, weekend shifts have taken on a whole new meaning of the word variety - Mike Embley, Martine Dennis, Julian Marshall, Juliette Foster, Maryam Moshiri, Navdeep Dhariwal, Claire Marshall, Tanya Beckett, Tony Campion, Alastair Yates, Tim Willcox, Manisha Tank, Karin Gianonne...................

......haven't seen Anya Sitaram for quite a while actually.

What about nisha pillai and geeta guru murthy?
And has maya even been on world since her dtints last year?

You are correct, looknorth. Geeta did a weekend shift just last week. Nisha Pillai never does weekends, IIRC.

I seem to recall Nisha presenting on a weekend but it was only once or twice and several years ago at that. She generally sticks to weekdays.

Other weekend presenters over the years have included David Jessel (when he first started on BBC World), George Eykyn (regularly presented the Sunday morning shift c.2002), Ben Brown and Keshini Navaratnam. Lyse Doucet and Martine Dennis also did weekend shifts in c.2000/2001.

I'll see if I can think of any more.

Tony Campion

Tony Campion is a London-based anchor and financial correspondent who presents and reports for CNN's business programmes. He writes and files business news reports, and provides live updates on the European share markets from the London Stock Exchange.

Campion joined CNN in September 2002 after a period freelancing for the network. Before that he worked for Reuters, Bloomberg and Sky News. Earlier in his career, he was a radio news presenter, appearing on NPR radio in the United States, London's News Direct 97.3FM and GWR-FM in the West of England.

Campion has covered events from the 1997 death and funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales to the 2001 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. He speaks regularly with leading figures from international business and finance: key interviews have included British Chancellor Gordon Brown and Dell Computer CEO Michael Dell. He regularly interviews blue chip Chief Execs at the level of Kurt Hellstrom and Jorma Ollila, of Ericsson and Nokia respectively.

Tony Campion has a Doctorate in High Energy Particle Physics obtained at CERN, Geneva, and a first class Bachelor of Science degree from Bristol University.

He is British and speaks fluent French, having spent much of his twenties living and travelling outside the UK. Two of those years were spent in Africa, where he led commercial expeditions across the continent.

Well, the chap must look younger than he is. Takes time to do all those things.

Lucy Hockings has also been a regular weekend presenter for quite a long time in 2003-2004-2005 along with Adrian Finighan and Anita McNaught, who -by the way- should explain to the world why on earth she is now working for Foxnews after long years at the BBC.
Does anyone know how often she appears on Fox? Because I really can't imagine her doing Foxnews-style reports.

Speaking of Anya, I only just found out today (via YouTube) than she was ITN News at Ten's health correspondent for a while in the 1990s. You learn something new every day......

Indeed, she was. Then she did a bit of weekend news anchoring at ITN, before joining the BBC to present Tomorrow's World. Then did a stint at Sky News, IIRC, before going back to the BBC World Newsroom!

(I may have Sky and Tomorrow's World out of sequence there, but either way, she did appear on both!)

Not very much, pure Faux News propoganda. Only when Hamas fire at Isreal or there is a statement from the Isreali government she will appear on Faux for a brief 90 sec readout report approved by Faux.

That's hardly all Geeta's fault, though. She's done hundreds of TOTH sequences over the years. Clearly the gallery team was having major technical problems and Geeta was stuck in the middle of it all. Let's face it, all Geeta could do was read from the autocue at the given times. Any technical problems (and several are shown in that clip including freeze frames, failed VTs and the wrong vamp being played out) are completely beyond her control.

Why does World now refer to its news website by bbc.com/news now instead of bbcnews.com? I don't like it!
TI

I'd say it has something to do with the fact that BBC.com (which they launched not long ago) is how they refer to the international side of BBC Online, ie the one with ads, so they thought they'd use that.

But it's still no reason not to use bbcnews.com
