Mike Embley

I'd say Al Yates or Mike Embley.

I am just curious..............your responses are all most welcome, please.

Much as I hate to say it - Nik Gowing instantly sprang to mind.

Followed closely by Lyse Doucet, Nisha Pillai and Katty Kay.

Purely instinctual - I am not a regular viewer - but they are the faces I instantly thought of without analysis.

Stephen Cole, Nikki Marx, Donald McCormack, Phil Hayton and Adrian Finighan also cropped up... (But they're long gone)

This is really great news! Great to have Paxman on BBCWorld, definitely looking forward to that.

Presumably this is the same show, or a very similar one, that is broadcast on News 24 over the weekend? It is kind of a "Best of Newsnight" featuring reports (and interviews?) turned round from the last 5 days, with recorded studio links in between?

Presumably because Kirsty often presents the Friday Newsnight - though Emily and Gavin sometimes do as well. Jeremy is seldom seen on Fridays as there are fewer interviews as the Newsnight section before Newsnight Review is shorter.

Of course Jeremy is likely to feature heavily in the interviews that are turned around from earlier in the week?

First time i've seen BBC World in ages, the breakfiller is pretty good, I would say its more interesting then the previous one at least, and they've gone back to the one presenter setup at the beginning which makes much more logical sense, but I still don't understand why pres sometimes puts the red BBC World DOG up instead of gallery for some programmes like WBR for example, is there an actual reason for this?

The sportscaster on Sport Today just reminded us that the next edition of the programme would be at "XXXXhrs GMTV....er, sorry, GMT!"

Oops. He must be a fan of Fiona Phillips.

From most of your comments above, the consensus would appear that Mike Embley is the face of BBC World!!

A few years ago, would have been Nik Gowing probably. To some extent this is still true, although I don't think he's been on for a while.

Now? Either Mike Embley or Lyse Doucet (the latter because I would say she is experienced and trusted).
