He was on weekends last week and this. Before that it has been quite some months since he was last on World.

Interesting find:

It was announced in September 2006 that BBC Worldwide plans to broadcast an international version of BBC HD in the near future. During the first broadcast of BBC World News America, it was announced that BBC America HD will be launched in 2008. No exact date is known as of now.

Even when anchoring live from a freezing Red Square in Moscow, The World Today anchor, Jonathan Charles, didn't disappoint his fan base, by ensuring his presnetation was still tinged with humour wherever possible, full of quips and - most significantly - wearing his best trademark pink shirt for the occasion!!

Jonathan Charles, like Lyse Doucet, coming from a correspondent background, makes for an excellent choice of anchor on BBC World. His credentials, again like Lyse, are not just from a news presenter perspective. Somehow, the guys who have been out dodging the bullets, seem to have much more authority than the others.

Who would you say is World's principal and most recignised anchor these days? In the former period, it was definately Nik Gowing and Nisha Pillai who were the most associated with BBC World, frquently covering world events from location.

But who immediately springs into your mind today when I pose the question "who is the face of BBC World?"

I am just curious..............your responses are all most welcome, please.

I will say Mishal Husain. In her time slot there is a lot of breaking news and with that you are instantly recognize as the face of the channel. She commands a lot of viewing. Remember her time slot is primetime in Asia, south Asia and the Middle east. morning time in Latin America and North America.
The next person will be Lyse Doucet. She is exceptional. When there is a big interview she is there as well as breaking news.
