Anybody had any idea why World News America was not shown today? It was BBC News with Chris Eakin (with News 24 titles going out on World). The breaking news then was the bombing at Bhutto's rally.

In the US on BBC AMERICA we saw WORLD NEWS AMERICA. Matt had an exclusive interview and they had to end the series on China so they couldn't do full breaking news. Also, at 10pm et they take the best of WORLD NEWS AMERICA and run it after the first 15 minutes of World News Today. It was a major story and WNA is more of a magazine style, more than a regular rolling news simulcast in the morning here in the states.

I suspect News 24 provided a joint programme for News 24 and World, replacing World News America on BBC World, but allowing the World galleries in London and Washington to produce World News America for the BBC America audience still?

Understandable really, as the Karachi story was so huge it needed coverage on BBC World. Therein lies the problem with all these structured bulletins on a news channel, like World News Today and World News America. When something major happens, they're tied down to providing those programmes for BBC America, etc., when they really ought to be concentrating on the BBC World viewers. In the past, when the only news programme on BBC World was BBC News, they could easily cover breaking stories without much hassle. This was hindered slightly in 2002 with the introduction of the BBC Four News/The World but it has escalated on a big scale with the introduction of all these new programmes.

She just did some relief presenting last year, iirc. She wasn't a permanent member of the presenting team.

Why isn't anyone here talking about World moving to News 24 studio??? I think it's a big and great news. They will have more space and better sets for WBT, WNTand Sport Today. No more ugly dark sets.

Any idea why the change? Welcome the change though, but it reminds me of the washed out projector screen at the current News 24 set.

I believe there will be a new set in the studio.
