I've not been able to watch World News America , but the music and titles are fantastic. Especially the mix of all those cuts on David Lowe's website.

I guess since The BBC World set needs to be staffed for WNT (The WNT desk is opposite the main BBC World News Desk)at 2am they are as well doing it all from there and not using the News 24 set.

World News Today at 2am doesnt come from the small set though. It comes from the main one.

Am I the only one who thinks it should be the other way around on World News America!?...with Katty Kay as anchor & Matt Frei as main correspondent!? I think she comes across as much more relaxed and together when on set than he does...he just comes across to me as more of a correspondent/reporter! (just my humble opinion) I dare say she seems so much more controlled and plus I find his style quite boring!

PLUS...whats with him sitting to one end of the 'great big' oval desk!?...that makes absolutely no sense to me!!! It would seem more practical to put him in the centre of the desk...but I'm hoping theres some logic behind it!!!! although I quite doubt that!

Haven't seen Phillipa Thomas yet since her programme launch...but I bet shes good! Saw her once doing Have Your Say in London and found her style quite interesting!

Claire Marshall was on yesterday...First time seeing her on World! Not bad!!!

Oh! one more thing...have they totally quit the bulletin that saw London & Washington DC sharing the half hour slot?...usually Katty Kay in America & Mike Embley in London? (i think)

From what i've seen, the 11pm just comes from Washington, and 12am is World News America... previously it was Washington/London at 11pm and 12am ... im confused with time zones so not entirely sure if its BST or GMT

Matt is much more highly regarded as a reporter in the BBC than Katty, and must thus be felt to have more credibility and gravitas as a presenter, backed up by that real experience.

Katty is very polished as a presenter, but doesn't have much depth to me.

At the end of the day - it is a question of who you think is more credible - and for me Matt is. I watch the 0030 simulcast front-half on News 24 - and wouldn't if Katty was presenting.

The offset position allows for round-table debates with more than 2 guests I suppose?

BBC is preparing for the US Elections next year thats why they made Katty a US correspondent. She is very popular in the Washighton Media circle. She is a regular panalist on the Main NBC political shows, that is the Chris Matthew Show and Meet the Press. Shes smart and a good BBC insider in DC. Matt doesn't have those connections that Katty has, but he is a good reporter and experience one with gravitas. The needed a new face of represention in DC with Matt and Katty together playing a major role.

Yep - I realised that Katty is big in US political circles (AIUI she is apparently very good friends with Cherie Blair from years back?) and has great DC contacts, which makes her an excellent and informed White House correspondent - and able to effectively cover the wider US political scene (which Matt has done excellently for a couple of years to BBC domestic audiences)

What Matt brings is a wider experience of high quality reporting - he has a strong style of his own which is already coming across on camera. I've seen quite a few reporters try to switch to presenting - and the first time you saw Matt present on News 24 you realised he was going to be fine. (Even if he did make the odd schoolboy error initially)

I read on TV NEWSER last year that she appear the most on the Chris Matthew Show then another guest. Moreover NBC paid all their really good pundits between $1000-2000/ appearance. Shes good friends with Andrea Mittchel the former Federal Reserve Chairman Allan Greenspan, Whose also NBC chief Foreign Affiars Correspondent.

Has Sport Today got a new look yet? I've seen the titles myself, a week or two ago I saw them, and just now I saw a sport promo on BBC World with Adnan sitting on the banana desk with a shot of the newsroom on on the projections. I hope they wont use that though, it looked bad!

The last time I saw sports Today it had the same look. That was sunday, so I don't know if they change it. The promo wasn't that bad though.
Probably they are about to revamp it. On their website they are looking for sponsors. It's being a while I think its in need of a new look.
