I can capture BBC World anytime I like and if anyone wants to see anything all they have to do it ask. It can't be that hard.

Yes please. I'd like to see some captures of these "feature programmes" and of the other studios they use.

N9 has been seen loads in the UK but the only other set we seem to see the the brussels "bus shelter that happened to have a red stripe" one

Feature programmes? like...? I dont watch world that much.
I can try afterschool today to get some caps of the Singapore studio!

Do we actually see much of that apart from the obligatory view from the HQ?

It's rather unique as it's the only HQ (IIRC) with a real window as opposed to a recorded backdrop.

European viewers tend not to see the Singapore studio because we don't get Asia Business Report. I think we get BBC News Extra instead. I seem to recall seeing the Singapore studio occasionally on the early morning WBR's though.

Has anyone noticed how they've increased the number of Sport Today programmes? There used to be 3 per day on weekdays and none at all at weekends. They've now added extra weekday programmes and I even caught a couple of editions last weekend. Does anyone know the reason for this?

May I distance myself from James Hall who is annoying.

What I wonder about with BBC World is, how come there's always something being talked about in N24's thread, and yet there's never anything here?

Whilst I appreciate the (forum) audience is smaller surely they must also experiement with the way they do news and pres and stuff like News 24?

Whilst I may be rude about the contributers to this thread, on account of having an immense dislike of certain cat murdering ones in particular, I find it hard to believe the only thing worth discussing is rotas. This must be evidence of nothing happening on the channel.

So what actually happens? Is it day in day out the same? We never get caps of the international studios in use either. The old washington studio was a particularly fab thing but didn't get capped enough.

You've hit the nail on the head, Hymagumba. BBC World does not experiment as much as News 24. Basically, every day is the same...except for the rota of presenters! That's probably why it gets discussed so much. It's also made worse by the fact that there aren't many forum members capable of watching BBC World and hardly any of them have TV capturing capabilities. I used to have a TV card but got rid of it when I bought a new PC.

yep I am at work during weekdays, busy on weekends, but I do have an Archos, I guess I can make a few caps of BBC World and BBC Prime.

Last night Juliet Dunlop was in the newsroom. Definitely the first time I saw her, what do we know about her?
I'm not en expert of British accents but hers sounded a little strange to me, very strong "r"s,,,

Yes, I noticed Juliet Dunlop was presenting the overnight simulcast - very competant and did a good job, but a surprising choice, bearing in mind the global BBC World audience, and her scottish accent which is fairly broad.

No less indecipherable than Jake Lynch's accent.

She regularly presents the BBC News 24 headline loop (here) and is presenting as I type. She's quite good, unfortunately I missed her.

I dont' think BBCWorld dealt with the Middle East ceasefire breaking news very well. At 1153GMT Simpson's World was interrupted and Lucy Hockings announced the incoming breaking news, but then, instead of providing immediate coverage they broadcast a 6 mins breakfiller. Then, at 1200 the bulletin began as a summary, but at 1209 they decided not to show Exterme Lives and go on with the coverage by joining News24 and they did so in the middle of an interview. Then the coverage ended at 1225 and an extra edition of This Week is now being aired. I really think, as there was no time for Extreme Lives, they could've gone on with the breaking news coverage with Simon McCoy instead of proposing an extra edition of a programme that already has its time slot. Lots of people must have switched to other news channels.

And after less than 10 minutes This Week was interrupted to leave place to live coverage. And about live coverage: unlike many BBC's interpreters this one is quite good (CNN's one is better, though) but I really think that they shouldn't keep the audio of the person being translated so loud. Like me, many people watching BBC World speak English at their second language and it's difficult to understand the translation with the original language kept very loud.

I was watching CNNI when broke into some show about African Orphans by Christiane Amanpour, to show stuff on the cease fire. CNNI has so much better content then CNN US. On CNN US, they just had their stupid graphics, and the presenter was all trying to be authoritative or something, which made it look like a clownfest. I whish I could get CNNI....
