But its making money, even though the channel is now a poor version of BBC News 24.

What?!

Oh come on! They are two very different channels. One a NATIONAL rolling news channel. The other an INTERNATIONAL news and documentry channel.

I don't understand when people make the comparision.

just been flicking through some videos ob world on youtube (as i cant view it as i live in the uk)but i think i came across the worst toth i ahve ever seen Exclamation Very Happy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loqIzHPnx2Y

well for starts geeta missed "the lastest headlines" after her name then that just seems to have a knock on affect for the timings for the rest.

Why is it that the toth seems to be when all presentersseem to much up.
its good that the oporator ran the titles as it filled in a bit time while they tried to sort it out if he hadnt it would have been an embaresment Rolling Eyes

BBC WORLD is comming from the New York studio. Is there something going on in the Washington studio, or is there work being done in DC for the new World News Today Program? Philipa Thomas was anchoring.

I like Phillipa Thomas, she doesn't have an annoying voice and its pleasant to listen too.

Yeah that seems possible. When does the new World News America start? October wasn't it?

Why is it a poor News 24 ? I honestly don't see why people say that. BBC World to me is a much bigger brand than News 24

Well in theory yes, but I think internally, BBC News 24 is more important as its a licence fee channel therefore the BBC have to get it right, whilst BBC World is just their to make a profit and spread the BBC News brand across the globe, so technically BBC World is last in the order of priority despite going out to 76 million viewers.

Not at all. BBC World is vital to the BBC's success. A lot of interviews and guests obtained by the BBC are due to it's high international profile. Indeed guests on Newsnight have only agreed to be interviewed providing the interview goes out on BBC World.

And it's BBC News's only growing channel so is thought of as central to the future of BBC News.

Well that's good to know, I guess that make BBC Prime last priority, it looks like a channel on its last legs! Wink

I am thoroughly enjoying the version of World News Today, presented each evening by Zeinab Badawi.

It is an hour of un-interrupted news at its best! I make a point of tuning in each evening (it occurs at 10pm my time) and like Zeinab's style and authority. She is clearly always well-versed on the subjects presented. Often, during her days off, Lyse Doucet will fill-in and provides a similarly credible performance.

On the othe hand, the Nik Gowing versions of the programme which precede Badawi's seem to be lack-lustre and "flat" for some reason. Can't quite put my finger on why, though........

I notice that BBC World now uses name astons for all sports and biz presenters who appear mid way through the regular bulletins. They used to go un-announced.

On the 7pm BBC AMERICA news Phillipa Thomas announced that all next week the washington - london show will be comming from London. She then announced that they will be building a new set in Washington. According to her "American Set". Let's hope something swanky and cool though. I'm show they will have new graphics and music. It will be interesting to see.
I said it last week when the program came from New York. I knew something was happening in Washington. Laughing
