For the second day in a row presenters' name have been misspelt in the astons.
Yesterday Mishal Husain was Mishal Husein, tonight Lindsey Brancher is Lyndsey Brancher,
I noticed Kim Chatas (Excuse the mis spell) reporting from NY on the gas explosion. I wonder if NY is a shopping holiday destinaton for all the women in the BBC News team. Shopping always seems to come up in banter between two WBR anchors when they are women. Dharshini and Tanya did it a lot when they were in London and NY respectivly.
Alastair Yates seems to be in his element when he is on World during the daytime. I guess the usual overnight shifts rarely involve having a second person alongside at the newsdesk, as it is usually a solo affair. However, during the day shift on World, we get the chance to see Big Al interacting with the Sports, Business presenters, as well as several studio guests yesterday.
Whilst comparing CNNI and BBCW together, and noting that these two channels are global/international news channels, it is interesting to note the real mix of nationalities amongst the news anchors on those channels. However, CNNI probably just edges ahead in having a greater mix of nationalities (
or ethnic origins
) than BBCW. I know it is not particularly relevant, but it just struck me on how imperative it is for global audiences not to appear to be addressed solely by "Brits" or "Yanks"! Do you think the channels have the balance correct? Is BBCW overpopulated with British presentation staff? I know this is perhaps a mildly sensitive subject, but I just wondered how other nationalities overseas (outwith UK and USA) viewed this:
