Bbc World Slip Of The Tongue???

ROBERT HALL AND LUCY HOCKINGS HANDOVER (September 2004)

As I live in the Middle East, I am a regular viewer of World. The only time I get to see N24 is when I am in the UK or overnight on World.

Today, Robert Hall was doing a live piece from Arnheim on the anniversary of the war time landings there. Lucy Hockings was the presenter back in the World studio, talking to him via plasma.

Robert then cut away to interview a veteran, and then handed back to the studio with the statement, "that's all form here. Back to you in the studio Felicity.".

Lucy looked bemused but carried on.

It got me thinking, that either:

1) Robert made a genuine mistake, and called Lucy Felicity by mistake,

OR

2) Does N24 have a presenter called Felicity, and were World and N24 taking the same feed live from Arnheim at the same time, and Robert made the mistake of naming the N24 presenter, forgetting (or maybe not knowing) that he was also simulcasting on World?

Could someone in the UK who was watching N24 around 08:00hrs this morning let me know? Thanks.

Just curious.

(Incidentally, don't know if anyone saw the double header World News from BBCW last night, presented by Ian Pannell and Mike Embley. Ian was in Washington - what did you think of him? Seemed a little nervous to me, and looked as though he wished he was the second presenter, rather than the lead. Comments?)

I witnessed both =p I saw it and was hearing another voice coming in suddenly and did not know what happened then... I watch BBC World you see so I do not know what exactly happened. Ian is co-presenting from Washington for quite a few weeks already I guess, not very good I suppose but still okay. I did not know he is Ian Panell till I saw the opening, i only heard of his name in reports before that. haha

Don't know what happened there! The only Felicity I can think of presents ITV News. Carrie Gracie was on News 24 this morning, so perhaps one of the directors in the World gallery was called Felicity, and he got muddled up. Other than that, I can't explain it!

It's 'Arnhem', not 'Arnheim'. It's in The Netherlands, not in Germany!

Sorry. Spelling is not my strong point. No offence intended.

Im guess Robert misheard the name of the presenter. Lucy and Felicity could be misheard on a dodgy phone line. Don't forget that although you hear Robert in full broadcast quality, he only hears the presenters over a normal phone line
