I just had a question about the BBC World Service. How come they don't use the david lowe beep music. Since it doesn't warrent a thread, I'll make this a general thread. What s with the weird currwnt music? I can't describe it. And there is a weird cello sound also. Where did Lillibulero go also?
I've just spent four weeks with the World Service and wondered the same thing. Grew to like the theme they have though. My only guess is that it's to do with how it sounds on MW and World Band which a majority of people around the world listen by. I imagine the theme they have sounds a lot better and recognisable then Lowe's news theme.
If you think, only Radio 1 use a variation of Lowe's theme. All the other domestic services use their own theme.
NO, it's not lillibulero, it is the wierd percussiony world music one, not lillibulero. The song I am talking about is played after the beeps, and it soundy either muffled or watery.

It's composed by Adelphoi music, who composed the 2004 Sky News remix.
