Someone's pressed the wrong button, old graphics are appearing on BBC World

It's just.. insulting.. to the BBC's design team. Laughing

In all seriousness, it would've been interesting to see this recorded, to see it in video form, however I understand if nobody was able to capture it in time before it was fixed.

It took them over 20 minutes before the new graphics were put on screen.

I'm guessing the BBC News TOC forgot to update the graphics for BBCWN hook-up? Rolling Eyes

At least the engine was correctly receiving data for the locator. Wink

World News is now on Reith like the News Channel so any appearance of the old graphics should in theory be quite difficult to achieve Very Happy never mind old overlaid over new. Ah, computers...

Maybe it was being controlled from Belfast. Wink

I've got the recording, its basically the old graphics but of course the casing has been altered so that ended up on the old graphics which of course looks weird, over the entire 20 minutes, there was the old live bug which appeared much higher up and in upper case and the new live bug, the question is why are the old graphics still on the system?

For them to switch back to in 10 years, BBC Two style, because they won't be able to afford to update them again? Wink

Maybe because all the language services are still using the old graphics ahead of full transition to Reith later next year?

Did this play out on the domestic BBC News?

I forget again (as it confuses me). Someone told me that graphics are often keyed from engines outside of the gallery and it was done at playout so there could be different styles - Is that correct?

I believe that to be the case. Although it's not done at Playout (as in BBC World News pres) it's at NBH.

Not sure how they ended up with one style on top of another though.

The Correct Live bug must have been generated at Studio E, with C showing the old graphics, the only thing is with simulcast, the live bug is generated by whoever is producing the simulcast (studio e in this case) but how did the old live bug appear as well?

My only guess would be that World ordinarily puts their live bug right ontop of the one from E, when simulcasting (not sure why they would do this but it seems plausible), but because the old template was being used, it appeared as two instead of one?
