I hesitate to mention this in case it is discontinued, but BBC World News seems to be available in the UK on Livestation at present (it used to be blocked to UK IP addresses).
I've tried on two ISPs at two locations and it works at both.
Turns out its temporarly avalible worldwide it seems, even in blocked places, while the war in gaza happens.
I still dont understand why they cant always make the stream available all the time in the UK on the internet. Some of us want proper international news which the domestic channels dont always cover. I know there are many rights issues but they can be resolved.
The key issue will be if any commercials or sponsorship is present on the stream. Ignoring other rights issues, if those are available in the UK then that is verboten. They can't do much about FTA satellite reception - other than not broadcast at 28.2 - but they can IP restrict.
Some do... I noticed Louise said Good Morning before, was relevant to me seeing it was 4.30am! If BBC World have all these streams, why can't they make the weather a bit more localised?
The entire presentation is pre-scripted and timed, running for a fixed duration.
The main reason for clickers in national / regional weather is the weather segment is used to fill time as required, meaning the presenter often has to adjust how long they spend on each slide to ensure they complete the forecast at the right time.
I find the red breaking news ticker about some resignations in the England cricket team during the Gaza coverage a bit excessive. On the news channel it would probably be appropriate, but a huge part of World News' audience don't even know what cricket is.
Dharshini David has briefly appeared on BBC World News. This time not as a presenter but speaking for Tesco during a report about light bulbs.
Yep - she left the BBC to work as a PR spokesperson for Tesco ISTR. (Quite a few former BBC reporter/presenters have made the jump to PR. Gutto Hari did - and then moved on again to work for Boris Johnson ISTR?)
