Congratulations to anyone who managed to watch any of the Best of Year programmes. I tried to watch one last night and couldn't because of the constant flipping of the logos and the huge coloured dots animation... what a complete distraction and irritation. I had to turn off after 5minutes because all I could look at was the logo rotating.

Who is the asian girl on BBC World News now?

She's not coping well at all with the developing news although Lyse is doing most of the work...

EDIT: And they've gone with a strange simulcast with the BBC One news with Joanna Gosling... hrmm

Was it a momentary glitch or has it continued? Seems strange as there is often issues regarding the rights over sports coverage and the bulletin will clearly have a UK focus.

I hesitate to mention this in case it is discontinued, but BBC World News seems to be available in the UK on Livestation at present (it used to be blocked to UK IP addresses).

I've tried on two ISPs at two locations and it works at both.

It was planned.... they only went over for an interview with Jeremy Bowen... but it was all done very messily

Lynette was a regular on BBC World in the mid/late 90s.

Turns out its temporarly avalible worldwide it seems, even in blocked places, while the war in gaza happens.

Peter Dobbie can turn the BBC coverage of the Gaza Crisis from good to excellent in my opinion. His way of dealing with continuously incoming news is flawless, but above all his interviews and questions to guests as well as to BBC correspondents have been some of the best I've heard on all channels I've been watching these days. I loved the long conversation between him and Katya Adler about half an hour ago. Highly focused and informative.

I still dont understand why they cant always make the stream available all the time in the UK on the internet. Some of us want proper international news which the domestic channels dont always cover. I know there are many rights issues but they can be resolved.

BBC World is execellent in times like this. Owen Thomas was also very impressive all morning. Relaxed and informative. I like his interviewing style too. He asks questions in a way ordinary people would ask them... he doesn't try to show off.

It certainly is good to be able to watch. Must say the coverage has been good - even though its been a joint service whilst Lyse Doucet broadcast from the border.

Nice to see Shaun Ley as well - isn't he at Radio 4 these days?
