Could I ask whether anyone could tell me about the studio where BBC Four's World News Today comes from (where it is, what it's called)?
It comes from the BBC World News studio - I believe from previous posts that that set is opposite the desk they use.
That's right. It's the second set in N9. They just swing the cameras round from the main desk when they need to use it. That's why the BOTH summary before editions of WBR is shot from a different camera than normal.
I can't believe World News Today has lost those rather nice polished titles to the pretty average bulk now standard BBC News titles.
What's to believe? It's standard for BBC relaunches, especially in News and Sport. They start with a uniform "no exceptions" look, then it erodes over time, as regions/sports/programmes break away from the generic look, get snapped back with the next relaunch, and repeat.
I can see one positive to renaming BBC World, BBC World News! It can act more like a rolling news channel and given most of the news bulletins dropped any closing sequence ages ago it does make more of a flow.
something very bad happened with the BBC World breakfiller just now, the world weather portion went into a total loop, first time i've even seen this, and sometime the sound of the breakfiller cuts out altogether, so we now have a buggy breakfiller.
The countdown is nice, but why isn't the BBC World News logo on the left?
The headlines vamp is an absolute bore, the headlines vamp has been going in a backwards trend since 2005!
Well, from what I've seen so far the new astons look like a cheap version of Skynews's ones. They are far too simple and lack the authority they've always had. And whoever came up with the idea of introducing all that grey should be fired immediately, it just looks awful.
The new graphics are not bad, I guess I'll get used to them, but I can't help finding them a bit too chaotic, with the world starting spinning again and agann and again, my eyes just get lost. The WNT ones are much better and classy, though.
I've got some doubts about the music, I've heard the closing of what used to be TWT, well, it just sounds ill-edited, kind of like the weather sting.
Is it just me, or do the new graphics bear a slight resemblance to some of the graphics used by Spain's CNN+ -- specifically the part you can see at 0:17 in this promo:
