Some gallery mania at the close of the last bulletin just now, with wrong shots, captions, camera angles and a very confused and embarrassed Peter Dobbie alongside Amelia Harris. Peter forgot what was coming up next and couldn't suppress his laughter any longer. Followed by a long and loud girn!

A very hard hitting interview by Peter Dobbie to a member of Kadima party. Really liked it, as I sometimes feel the BBC presenters tend to be a little too mild in their day-to-day interviews in the attempt of being perceived as the most neutral and moderate possible.

What a pleasure to see Alastair Yates back on the overnights after Xmas. He did Saturday and Monday shifts and I hope to see more of him over New Year. He really is very good.
Mr Lye was an interesting addition to the Sunday line up. I haven't seen him on BBC World before.

Well it doesn't seem to be bull, I emailed Sky NZ last night to complain about Sky News and asked about BBC World at the same time...

With regards to BBC World going widescreen , we are pleased to advise that we will be transmitting the channel in this format from the 20th of January.
HA
that is interesting, well if this happens this could push Al Jazerra International to move to 16:9 too.

Good to see Nisha Pillai making an appearance today on the last day of the year. Her long absences from World during 2008 have been notable. She is probably actually only filling-in for Lyse Doucet who is now - predictably - in Gaza/Israel.

Lyse Doucet is indeed in Jerusalem, she reported live around noon time. The second part of her broadcasts came from what is probably the BBC studio in Jerusalem where she had to repair from the awful weather that made her first live reports not very easy.
