I read on a CNN forum that Manisha Tank is now with CNN in Hong Kong.
b****r. Can't get CNN, what a peach she is too.....
Manisha always seemed a bit starved of a regular role once Business Today (on News 24) came to an end. But it is a shame to see her go to CNN - she was one of the best in the BBC's business unit.
What's happened to Alastair Yates on World. He used to present news all over the place. Now I see he only does Saturday shows from 03.00 gmt for 4 hours. Anybody know why? He is my favourite presenter. He has a terrific voice and a mellow, smooth style which I think is just great. Too many of the presenters on World are "IN YOUR FACE" and he is not. I hope that BBC management are not discriminating against him because he is now wearing specs. Hugh Riminton on Cnn wears specs and so do some of the Al Jazeera presenters and they all look good.
Also, I find Zainab Bedawi, although an excellent interviewer, very abrupt and occasionally disrespectful towards her guests. Anyone agree? Last week I thought Nisha Pillay was rather offhand with Mark Regev (Israeli government spokesperson) in her interview. Good interviewing skills are admirable but downright rudeness shows either partiality or an inability to deal with people on a sophisticated level.
I like Mike Embley and Nick Gowing, when he's around.

Thats bot good at all. She was like the best business presenter. It feels like soon all of the BBC's best presenters will leave.
It's been like that for around a month now - some have the new music, some have the old. I don't know if the old one's disappeared yet but they've been side by side for a while now.
I mentioned it a little way back but no one else seemed to pick up on it!

Have a great day, Y' all.
I think Alastair is very much of the 'old school' of news presentation. More of an old fashioned 'newsreader' than a modern journalist/presenter. I think he's got quite a lot of gravitas and presence - but tv news is moving in a different direction. Call me a cynical old thing, but he's not quite as glamourous as some of the new presenters. All the channels want pretty young things on screen - and Alastair is not that.
Hmmm just sounds like a BBC News theme, rather than World. It also doesn't use the World '2-note motif' - maybe they're phasing that out, in order to make BBC News and World News indistinguishable... If so, the countdown will be next.
Thanks Bob for the comment. You have a very good point, sad though it is. Still , surely there are enough of the "bright young things ' on screen to allow the classy old-timers (Nik Gowing too?) a bit of space on the schedules. It is rather comforting watching and listening to them do their thing in a profesional manner that is not always apparent with some of the more youthful lot.
