I suppose in the event of anything happening in either N6 or N8, they'll use N9, like engineering works or other problems.

Personally, I think News Channel should move into N9 and ditch N6, but aren't N6 and N8 nearer to each other than N8 and N9, so that would make it awkward. Didn't the newsrooms or something like that move when World moved to N8 to make everything nearer.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this subject!!

Yes I think so too N6 is aufull and too small, worlds set is much better I think they should build something like it in N9 for the news channel and close down N6.

Too small? Yet World's smaller set is good?

Stop saying such ridiculous things.

Actually, looknorth is quite right. N6 is an enclosed studio and a very small one at that. N8's set may be fairly small too but it has a real newsroom behind it which adds depth. That's something N6 hasn't got - it's pretty easy to tell they are just screens.

But to me N6 feels a lot bigger.

I loved the glance at Martine's little side table today in a closer-than-usual wide shot.

Make-up bag. Newspapers. Lipstick. And a Starbucks style coffee cup!! All that was missing was a bag of popcorn and some slippers. LOL.

And the fact there is a crack in the screens behind the presenters makes it even more obvious.

I think that maybe world should have gone to N6 as the newsroom atmosphere isnt really essential to the channel in fact it might have been a good thing if world had gone to N6 because they could have made good use of the screens. The news channel/national news would look perfect in the new N8.

I disagree. The sound, video and lighting in N6 is many times better than in N8, also the camera angles available in N6 are much more attractive, especially with it having a nice flat floor. If the nationals came from N8 then the production quality would plummet, remember how bad the One was when it came from there while N6 was being refurbed.

Yes, having a bustling newsroom behind the presenters gives the impression that you are connected to the heart of the news operation, but if they wanted people to feel they were in the middle of a busy office, they could have fed live (or delayed) pictures from there to the screens in N6. There has been a concious decision not to do this. Likewise with sound - they could feed office noise into the studio, but have chosen not to.

In my opinion, this has resulted in a cleaner looking, more professional operation (no more people wandering acorss the back of shot loking for something to do). Yes, there is a couple of issues with the screens, but it makes them look real, compared the ITN virtual studio (which they could have opted for but again, chose not to).

When you look at it from a professional position, it's obvios why they chose to close N9 over the others. Which studios have the better facilities, space and flexibility?

Yes I agree but remember N8 now has the news screen which could be used for the national news.

I do think N6 could have been made so much better a live shot from the newsroom would have been better insted of this constant blured image.

whats your point? N9 had a screen, the fact is N8 isn't a real studio and the technical standards from there are much lower especially for a more produced bulletin.

I think N9's little plasma and N8's new video wall are slightly different in comparison...
