I don't understand this 'shabby looking' comment.

Neither do I, Jugalug. N6 doesn't look any more 'shabby' now than it has since the Barco screens went in a few years ago, if anything probably better since the BBC NC revamp.

Considering it is in constant use I think it looks OK. At least now the floor is black and they aren't moving that 'baking tray' around so they don't get the problem with scuff marks on the floor, which were always quite obvious before in wide shots.

Remember, it was the same just before News 24 left N8, there were constant posts on here telling us how the place was 'falling apart' and how dreadful it looked on screen when, to be totally honest I though it looked fine. Who knows maybe I don't look hard eough!

Do you reckon these people will elaborate for us?

Add me to the list.

Yes, there may be the odd few scratch marks on the floor and a couple of the screens need the levels changing, but other than that it's fine. What's so 'shabby' about it?

Lets hope they do...

Just to say (and I know I'm late) that I completely love this new set and it all fits much better than N6. Even the graphics aren't as bad when compared with a lively, busy studio full of life. Personally every time I imagine it it has Huw sitting at the desk with '10' up on the BARCO screens. But then again World would die (not literally but it would become 10 times worse than N9) if it were moved to N6, in my view they should have closed N6 and just expanded N9 a bit (though that probably wouldn't have been possible).

Weekends on BBC World can be surprising and shift from one extreme to the other on occasion.

Last couple of weekends, we have had relative (emphasis on relative) newcomers anchoring, such as Luisa Baldini and Janat Jalil. Whereas today, the opposite extreme with a true veteran of the channel ancoring the weekend news (Alastair Yates).

Regardless, it's all very watchable indeed.

Is their no way BBC World can do some sort of opening shot, it just goes straight into the presenters shot.

The studio is actually quite cramped behind the camera which is why TOTH in N24 days was a pan shot with a tractor cam on the ceiling rather then the wide shot we got in N9. Where that Tractor cam was is now is where lighting for presentation from the new News wall is so the tractor cam had to go.

Funnily enough, just as you say that, they decide to! Smile

What about the other side? It still keeps the original pod shape.
