Amazed at how small the set and gallery really are! Is the equipment in the gallery going to be left on or is it just being turned off gradually?

That photo shows only the left hand side of the gallery. There's more to the right of the picture. What's shown is where the director used to sit. I don't know about BBC World but I've been told that broadcasters tend to leave essential equipment powered up even when not in use because problems can arise when they are powered up again. If N9 is needed at short notice, I guess the last thing they need is one of the mixers to go down.

Oh right, thanks Rob. Was going to say, that would've been pretty small for a channel like that to operate in!

I am enjoying BBC World's output today. Firstly, a live location programme with Jane Hill in The Hague. Followed by Sally Bundock presenting BBC World News Today (filling in for Tanya Beckett - Jamie Robertson has also been filling-in this week).

The excellent Juliette Foster was also present on the WBR segments. I love watching Juliette's programmes. She continues to be one of the best anchors on BBC World.

Zeinab Badawi again displaying how flexible she is, balancing really serious stuff with the light-hearted.

And..........wait for it...................even Tim Wilclocks is watchable today, but only because of Sally Eden's dry sense of humour acting as a good foil for Tim, and only because of the several cock-ups that have occurred during the first hour this morning. (His radio mic fell off during the opening headlines and we could barely hear him. He had to read the first item with has hand stuffed inside his jacket holding the mic in place, carefully disguising it by placing his scripts in front of it. And then went on to struggle with several Russian athlete name pronunciations and struggled further with numerous acronym deliveries, thus meaning that the IAEA was renamed the "IEAAEA" for the day................)

I am sure someone in the gallery and operating the autocue was genuinely having a laugh with him today by throwing in all those names during the sports round up. The normally faultless Mr. Wilclocks was clearly struggling and suppressing chuckles today.

Continuing through the day, Mr. Gowing has just popped-up with the 0800hrs (London Time) edition of BBC World News, so one assumes that he will also anchor the "Newshour" later on. It is unusual to see Mr. Gowing at this early hour.

Indeed, Nik has stayed on the Newshour and has been joined by Geeta Guru-Murthy.

For two "veterans", Nik and Geeta are not doing very well together, tripping over each other and both reading the same story at the same time. It appears that he is taking her stories, etc.

Lots of awkward pauses and side glances to each other to see who is going to speak first..................................LOL

There's a trail on today about reports from China's orphanages and at the end the reporter says "...here on BBC World".

Lyse Doucet made a couple of references to what was coming up next "on BBC World" too, whilst persisting at looking into the wrong camera.

Is this her first time in the new studio? Any pictures/video? Haven't seen Lyse presenting in a while.

No, Nat. Lyse has been in the new studio several times. In fact, IIRC she presented on the very first day from the new set.

Today, she could be found at the main desk, doing a stand up segment and also did an interview over in the Ikea corner.

And just now, she has AGAIN closed WNT with a promise that "there is much more coming up on BBC World". Lyse is merely saying what we are all thinking, LOL.

One other bizarre observation from this morning's TWT (or whatever it is called) closure, featuring Tim Wilclocks and Sally Eden, despite the fact that they were at that moment seated right next to each other at the main desk, the closing sequence still used the usual split-screen images normally used when the presenters are remote from each other. How bizarre. Surely a single camera shot could have been used?

Its a shame BBC World didn't make best use of N9 towards its last years, an awful glass covered studio with a blurred out background, what's going to happen to it now then?

I suppose in the event of anything happening in either N6 or N8, they'll use N9, like engineering works or other problems.

Personally, I think News Channel should move into N9 and ditch N6, but aren't N6 and N8 nearer to each other than N8 and N9, so that would make it awkward. Didn't the newsrooms or something like that move when World moved to N8 to make everything nearer.

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on this subject!!

I agree. I know N9 is pretty small, but surely the other side of the studio (previously used for WBR, WNT and Sport Today) would make a good area for sport and business with the two news presenters at the main desk.

I know it's been said many times, but N6 is a disgrace...already looking shabby and it hasn't even been in use for 4 months. Rolling Eyes
