its odd seing business presenters presenting BBC World News, they seem to have done this for years though.

Yes, and many of them actually went on to become news anchors and left business aside, whilst others continue to mix both - Tanya Beckett / Manisha Tank / Sara Coburn / Jamie Robertson / Maryam Moshiri / Juliette Foster / Adrian Finighan / Mishal Husain / Owen Thomas / Teymoor Nabili / Peter Coe ------ all of these were/are BBC business presenters and moved into news.

Just foundmyself at the start of this thread and noticed the way BBC World News is launched on this early graphic. Why don't they ever use it like this? It looks great! So much better than that f@$#ing red box all the time.

EDIT: Oh, that's because it was made by Bail. Once again a member of this forum has done better than LN could.

Quote from Private Eye: Satellite TV station al Jazeera's New York reporter, the former BBC business news presenter John Terrett, has earned himself a rare distinction. He has been banned from travelling with the United Nations security council or with the UN secretary-general Ban Ki-moon and his entourage, following an explosive altercation in Sudan between Terrett and mild mannered UN press spokesman Yves Sorokobi.

Only after special pleading was the UN persuaded not to send Terrett and his team back on the next plane to New York, fearing that Sudanese officials who had witnessed his astonishing behaviour might decide to let him cool down in one of their notorious jails.

Sorokobi was left visibly shaken after Terrett lost his rag and began shouting, swearing and jabbing his finger at the hapless UN spokesman, the hack having arrived late for a security council press briefing in Khartoum. A ferocious Terrett exploded, describing Sorokobi as a "f****** c***" and then engaged in a ferocious argument in front of other senior UN officials and the assembled UN press corps, some of whom recall that John "Tourette" Terrett has serious form.

When he was a New York-based business corr for the BBC, "Tourette" had to be escorted out of the Times Square office where Auntie was based, as he was exploding at colleague Michelle Fleury. On that occasion a glass door was broken by a departing Terrett as a trembling Fleury dialled her bosses asking for assistance.
End of Quote

Wow - I had no idea that our former and much loved BBC New York anchor had such a temper...........JT was entirely different on screen!

No, not groundbreaking, but neither is that red box. Much prefer Bail's juggling of all those words.

Wow, that's a great shot from the newsroom. It's amazing how small the set really is, it looked huge on the shot after the opening titles.
