Quite a random question, but does anyone know what those cabinets are used for - on the far left?

That's a couple of bays of Video Tape (aka VT) machines with monitors above.

It looks like there may normally be a red flat that masks them from view that has not been positioned correctly?

Usually the red bit covers all of it from shots i've seen. Is it the door for them to get in!?

I just don't think it looks bad. It's part of the equipment that is used to get the news to us. Next you'll want a cover over the laptop so it doesn't offend our poor little eyes.

It doesn't look that bad, I just don't think it's meant to be seen. Is that a casually adandoned water cooler refill bottle on the floor too?

It's not as bad as the big crack on the leading edge of the desk.

Cool, that looks like a sliding red door to get themselves into the set and someone forgot to close it, I'm liking this new set its a shame its BBC World that's occupying it!

Noticed this from a recording of WNT this morning, is the other side of the set during the wide shot superimposed? I just happened to notice a random hand appear on the left, as Karin introduced the main story. Shocked

Suspect it could be a recorded wide shot (to get round the issue of a guest being in-vision in the wideshot). If you look closely Karin does a good job of matching her script shuffling, but I think she repeats the same move in the close-up?

It's a freeze of the wide shot grabed into the frame memory from the locked off camera and keyed over the left of the picture over the top of the guest.
