Deary me! I assume the dog is the 'back up' one? Because it was on the other day and it was the original relaunch height.

The dogs don't need to be covered they've their own feeds don't they?

Was that during a News channel similcast? cos it's obvious that BBC World News have a DOG that is exactly the right size to cover the NC DOG and clock while keeping the ticker on screen. but of course if the NC DOG and ticker fall out of place.....

It might depend whether that is coming via N8 or via BBC World presentation. Routing things in certain ways can move the picture down a line - perhaps due synch correction/genlocking?

Stuff shouldn't move up and down at all if it is timed properly. However when some studios are routed via other studios, rather than directly, the resulting route is not timed correctly, and the result is the video is shifted vertically by a couple of lines. (This is because each studio introduces a delay, and you'd need to add compensatory post-studio delays to permanently delay the un-delayed routes to match the delay you'd get routing via a second studio)
Routing the studio via a synchroniser would solve it, though would introduce a delay, which would become apparent during simulcasts (but then the vertical position shift is also apparent...)

Does anyone else find the new trail for HardTalk (with footage of animals fighting) really embarassing? There seems to be an Americanisation with World - they're also starting to give certain stats in $US.
It wasn't long ago that World News America was launched, and they were criticised for using pounds instead of dollars. I remember on The Editors blog they gave a very good justification for it - "it's still the BBC" - but not much longer than a year later they're starting to use US units across the bulletins.

The promo is pretty doggy especially at the end when the presenter (his name escapes me) just stands there with a big grin on his face.
Then again none of the promos on BBCWN have been that good....

Stephen Sackur is an ego tripping git, I've never liked him on Hardtalk and he always degrades his guests and makes them look as bad as possible.
regarding dollars v pounds, I've been watching World since 2001 and they always US$ , well I can recall more times they've used US$ instead of pounds in the past 7 years.
