Bitterly dissapointed so far from what I've seen. Gill Sans is a huge step back, and it looks awful. The ident and stings though are rather good. I'll hold judgement until I've seen the BBC News Channel.

2 countdowns were posted in the Relunch thread and the other one was better ( at least to me) and I guess it would be used for News 24. It is simillar to their current one but better.

The Gill Sans, the red white & grey, it's BBC London!

Of course - no wonder it looks so dodgy!

I find it really hard to believe that a team of people thought those straps are an improvement on the previous set. They actually made a conscious decision to implement them. Astonished! What were they thinking?

I think the only problem is the straps and ticker, other than that I think its fantastic.

Here is the music from the new countdown (not clean, just taken from recording of TV)

Those lower-thirds are the cheapest-looking graphics I've ever seen. I feel like I went to bed last night and woke up in 1999.

Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Or are they just horrible graphics?

Dull, bland, uninspired are all negative ones.

Titles, studio and fullscreen graphics are good, but it starts to fall apart from there.

It's taken a while but I'm really warming to the new on screen architecture - Fix the dog and it will be a lot better. What I love the most is the simplicity - it's actually incredibly refreshing. I can see what LN meant now about a whitewash and back to basics - It really works.

All those who are criticising - Give it some time & watch it on TV. It may not be the most groundbreaking presentation but it's functional - it's what gave LN's new BBC look an edge back in 1997 and I think it can work just as well today.

It's been a while since I've been up that early - is it a new development that the 0500 bulletin isn't The World Today?
