Just reading that Digital Spy article, and this concept was mentioned in the press release as well, but I'm struggling to understand the reference to having "international news talent in one location". I was under the impression as a viewer that the BBC managed to get "international news talent in one location" with the current studio as well. Aside from the Washington and Singapore studios, as well as occasional trips abroad for live reporting, I'm pretty sure most of the news I've seen presented comes from the one location - the studio.
I agree with Worzel, it seems like a terrible choice. By the end of the year that set is going to look a total mess. Its just not designed to be used 24 hours a day.
Whoever made the decision has obviously looked at the AlJazeera English sets, because they use the same Barco screens, and just thought, well they present infront of a newswall for 24 hours a day, why can't we? The problem is, AlJazeera had $1 Billion Dollars off the Emir of Qatar and obviously spent good money on the sets to make them future proof for the next few years.
I hope when they move to BH theres a lot of space for a brillant, newsroom filled new studio!
I'm still appalled that the BBC News Channel is suffering from what seems a terrible idea of moving the station to N6 and BBC World News being able to get away with being in N8.
What will happen to the move to BH? BBC News Channel being shoved in a broom cupboard somewhere so BBC WN gets the whole news centre to itself?
Yea.. get over it?

I don't like this map, I hope its not on all the time.

They are talking about having all the BBC's international output in one location. Television, Radio and Online. Previously TV was on the 2nd floor in N9, Online was on the 7th Floor, Radio was at Bush House and International Newsgathering was on the first floor. All departments will now be based on the 2nd floor of the News centre. So if TV wants an expert from Online they only have to wander to the next desk.
Most of Radio will stay at Bush House for the moment, but they now have a presence in the international newsroom.
I think BBC World should finish as they normally do, but after they say their piece they should do a pan and play bit of music, technically that isn't really a close! Plus, its certainly better then a messy cut to weather.
looks to me that they need to change the "Coming Up" part of the Breakfiller, since yesterday they added again "BBC World News" on the listings just like the red & cream breakfiller before...
