BBC World News: Presentation

Okay, that script was cringeworthy going into the weather (on N24). How many times did "BBC World News" get namechecked in the course of a few sentences. Five? Six?

Very clean and brave graphics for the straps, although the World News dog needs some better kerning...

Please tell me N24 will not have these lower thirds... they're a big big big step backwards - and not in a good way.

Looking at just the captions... they actually remind me most of the pre- 99 blue look most. Weren't those white on uniform-blue? Ever since then, the top line and the lines below have been separated in some fashion - be it cream & black, red & black, even solid & transparent black.

Unchanged World Business Report opening. A new "Live" bug in the top left - wait, isn't that outside the vertical safe area? Again?

Grey ticker with white text. Looks quite odd.

EDIT: Live tag with time is flat with two different shades of grey (lighter grey for the time, a darker grey for the location). Red as usual for the LIVE part.

As tickers go... I don't think that looks too bad. Tickers are distracting anyway, better to have them dull than bright. Although Gill Sans [Extra?] Bold might not be the best font.

Still don't like the blank bit to the left of the DOG though (or to the right of the astons). If you're going to block off all the significant bottom of the screen, block out the whole thing and have done with it.

Flat is okay. I was never fond of the "glassiness" of the last refresh.

Sorry, but these new graphics really are inferior to the ones they are replacing. Lambie Nairn have earned their money yet again

Except the on-screen graphics would have been produced in house, all be it with advisement from Lambie-Nairn.

I like it so far, although I want to see the end of the black beveled straps.

I hate the grey ticker, TVNZ News here use a grey ticker and its crap.

They've gone back to having an abstract break bumper which is much more interesting than the Putting News First one they've had. BUT they've got sound with it - an extract of the news theme. Really annoying every time it comes up!
