I think it's also the first time we've had Reeta Chakrabarti presenting the news on BBC World. Does she sometimes present on the news channel?

I don't believe she has presented on the News Channel before.

Reeta did quite a bit of relief presenting on the News Channel around 2005/2006. She has also presented The World Tonight on Radio 4.

Martine Dennis proving that she's the ad-lib Queen once more this morning - whenever things go wrong on BBC World News and tapes fail, sound fails, autocue fails, etc..........., it always seems to occur during Martine's morning shifts.

And no double-header today either at 0900hrs London time, as is usually the case. Instead, just Tanya Beckett on her own.

African Business Report new program on BBC WORLD NEWS starts at the end of August.
Quote:
Skye Bank sponsors BBC's Africa Business Report
LONDON: BBC World News will be hosting a new series - Africa Business Report - from the end of August 2009. The programme, sponsored by Skye Bank, plans to focus on business in African, examining the people, businesses and products as well as the issues, challenges and opportunities for companies trading there.
"Africa Business Report will offer BBC World News viewers a revealing insight into the stories behind the continent's increasingly successful and diverse business culture. We're delighted to have Skye Bank as sponsor for what should be a very interesting series," says Sean O' Hara, regional director at BBC advertising sales.

Based in Nigeria, Skye Bank's sponsorship package plans to include idents around the programme itself, as well as a range of advertising, online executions on the Africa Business Report series website, and in-branch collateral.

A good move.

Sally Bandock was anchoring news last 2 days, that's the first time I've seen her. She's been great, both solo and with David. In fact I never really liked her before but now my opinion has changed. Hope she leaves business news for good.

it seems that everyone, from business news to sports news, has been migrating to News presenting...
I hope this will be a good thing.

And today, Aaron Heslehurst is on the shift pattern normally taken by Tanya Beckett/Juliette Foster, which means that Aaron could very possibly be newscasting later tonight on BBC World and also anchoring BBC World News Today - Business Edition.

Oh no.............

Yes, clearly some juggling going on in the Biz line up with thew holiday season upon us.

Karin Gianonne joined by Juliette Foster for The World Today. Then Sally Bundock anchoring the news for the next four hour slot, joined in the London studio by Michelle Fleury for the Biz News and WBR. Michelle is - of course - normally based in New York.

I note more and more they are using the close-up newswall as the backdrop for some seated correspondents at the desk, mainly sports and business slots. It looks good with the presenter seated at the desk and with the newswall as the backdrop.

David Eades doing the late shift for the last few days, replacing Nik Gowing. Who, therefore, has been co-presenting with Lucy Hockings this week?

Lyse Doucet has been in Kabul for a very long time.

Good old Owen Thomas on World Business Report this morning, is he a regular on Fridays now, or just an occasional stand-in? He's not bad, better than mad Aaron Heslehurst, and slurry speech Jamie Robertson.

More Atlantic Ocean hopping on BBC World. Business Presenter Michelle Fleury is now back in New York, whilst Laura Trevelyan is not in New York but in London, presenting World News Today currently, in Nik Gowing's slot. Wonder why they fly people around like that when surely there are several available anchors closer to HQ.

Laura tends to "shout" rather than read the news.
