Could the World Service be heading the same way as BBC World News banding wise? The BBC Radio website seems to suggest so...

Extra looooooooooooong shift for Owen Thomas today on BBC World News. He presented his first bulletin today at 0600hrs GMT. And twelve hourly bulletins later, he is still on air, even intermittently taking his contact lenses out to give his eyes a rest, and wearing his Arthur Askey specs during some bulletins.
I like Owen's presenting style - full of energy and never boring. I am guessing that Peter Dobbie has taken a day off to go running, LOL.

That man has always had stamina. I am pretty sure he could do it standing on his head literally.

Oops! A little teenie, weenie bit of a disagreement tonight live on-air between the two Ni(c)ks - Gowing and Witchell. Nik Gowing asked NW outside the palace to comment on a highly political/global question with serious G20 and economic undertones, which NW was clearly not prepared for. He selected some of the softer issues within the question and answered those instead, ranting that Nik Gowing was "highly mistaken and misleading to suggest that there would be any pomp and ceremony at tonight's G20 reception with HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace".
Ooh er.

The World Today (or whatever it's called) was a total mess this morning. Wrong film. Wrong astons. No sound. Incorrect astons. Missing music. Out of synch titles and music. Frozen tapes.....................oh my!
