more to the point, why are the widescreen bars so squint, its as if they're filiming the screen of a laptop as a cheap way of getting a webcam feed on air

i don't think it's widescreen bars, i think it's a part of the window...
the cameras (or the webcam) has just been zoomed (or so) the wrong way.

Oh my goodness!! After more than ten years, Owen Thomas is once again presenting World Business Report on BBC World! He will also probably anchor tonight's edition of World News Today - Business Edition, later this evening on BBC World.

I enjoy his style, both in newscasting and business presentation. With faces such as Owen, Martine Dennis, Peter Dobbie, Nik Gowing, Mike Embley and Alastair Yates still all appearing on World, it's truly like a blast from the past.

BBC WORLD NEWS is showing the memorial for the victims of the wildfires right now. I must comend them for their coverage while the other international news channels (CNNI) could care less about whats going on down under. The website was updated constanly and World even diped into ABC coverage. Well done BBC WORLD NEWS. CNNI don't have a single correspondent in Australia, the BBC has two.

CNNi did go live to someone in Australia many times throughout that week.

CNN took stories straight from the Seven Network quite a bit, which served them well..the BBC did a similar thing with the ABC. I found it more informative than a interview with, say, the Australian High Commissioner in London (or some poor spokesman from the CFA on the phone).

Excellent report on Turkish Airline accindent in Amsterdam. They've got the live pictures and great analysis less than 60 minutes after it happened!

EDIT: Is it just me, or does the breaking news ticker seem darker than usual?

Is it just me, or is the music for the current 'March' trail a different version of the music used on BBC America?
