Why was the desk changed?
They changed the desk in the nc studio during piloting , so at the time of the sport's centre and midlands today's studio refurb the desks that were put in were the 'newer' ones.

Where did you hear this from? I'm fairly certain that the desk in Studio E is the one that was always supposed to be there, although it is different from the renders. The earliest photo of Studio C (which you could say is almost E's twin), shows the same desk that E and C have, although with different lighting to look more purple.

I got it from a picture that I had seen either on google images or on the forum , it's the picture from when the lighting was being tested and I remember seeing the desk.

It think it's just a case of the images we saw before the end product didn't have all the white frosting around them. If you look closely, the actual body of the desk is thinner inside with white frosting added outside, as someone said earlier for modesty but also moveable for guests.

They certainly don't. I find all American news studios disgusting.
Of course they have the right idea when it comes to news studio design.

I actually like CBS's and NBC's studio design, however before Charlie Gibson left ABC, I found their studio superior t both CBS and NBC before the new look with Dianne Sawyer.

All of the morning show sets over there are superior to ours; a cold box with screens (BBC Breakfast), a bright orange mishmash of pres areas (Daybreak) and a tiny corner of a newsroom (Sunrise).
The national news sets over there have the right idea, separate areas for one on ones, weather (although their 'Weather Center' idea is overrated) sport, travel, light news etc.
Local sets are national grade sets and some are even more superior to national sets, again keeping the multiple pres areas but each set is an independent design, yet O&O's (and stations owned by the same company) have one basic design and/or layout and elements.
