Sopel's program feels a lot like Newsnight, it uses both sides of the set, the opening includes presenting of guests and is quite long. Light blue lighting again makes the set look totally different.
I expected Jon to be seated at high desk but no, it's the low, more relaxed desk abd chair again, like on Impact.

And Jon Sopel's presenting style is very much like Newsnight. Really going to miss Sopel on domestic news.
But is this presenting style appropriate for an international audience? It does feel very British to me.
The orchestral recordings are actually in the countdown. The mix they are using is just one of six mixes. I guess the others including the full orchestral only mix (which is just stunning) will most likely be used for montages or even obits perhaps.
Also, with the desk lowered to 'coffee table' height, it seems that perhaps it's not possible for presenters to use the computer built into the desk. George utilised it on GMT - but Sopel isn't on Global, out comes the laptop.
