I'll give credit to Mike and whoever was running the gallery, firstly Mike copped straight he was on air, and went neutral, (unlike some nameless RTÉ newsreader, Wink ) Secondly gallery managed to get the camera away from Mike for just long enough that he could get a swig of water if he needed it. And nice knowing intro to the bulletin "Hello again" So yes, bit of a whoopsie, but very well handled.

Awkward moment when Lyse Doucet is interviewing someone in Ramallah, but on the background you can hear someone (probably a reporter) speaking in Arabic so loudly. Do they really need to speak in a loud tone?

I think they do speak loudly if there are any unnecessary noises in the background.

Global with Jon Sopel is 30 minutes early tonight, covering both the Obama speech and the change of leadership in the Anglican church.

Also, that blooper made me realize just how fantastic the new countdown music actually is!

With no other changing images for distraction, one focuses on the music more and it's incredibly awesome.

The countdown music really looked strange to me without BBC World's signature notes in it.

I think it presents a good case for a more visually subtle countdown, or one with just a coming up menu, or a still studio shot. The complexity of the music, combined with the slow animation on the screens, worked well.

I guess we, viewers of BBC WN, are a bit lucky that we have a few extra strings on our countdown music. Very Happy
and even without the visuals, the sound is definitely a feast of the mind... definitely came so far from it's original version in 1999.

I wish World would air "The Film Review" (formerly known as Film 24) on Fridays and weekends, just like NC. It would fit in well and I love these kind of programs.

Does BBC World still have Talking Movies? That was always a staple of the BBC World schedule, although it's several years since I last saw it. Maybe I just haven't tuned in at the right time, though.

Trouble is, The Film review is made to coincide with movies that are being released that week in the UK, so they may end up reviewing movies that have been released in the US for months or are yet to come out. Besides, isn't there 'Talking Movies' already?

Yes it still airs, but only as a 5-minute segment (you might have noticed rushed endings to Sport Today) before the bulletins (sharing with Fast Track, Click, etc. during the week), which I think is a bad idea. I always thought it's great, and has nice features on movies that are talked about. I wonder when did it started?
