Yes and BBC One for a few hours overnight will show BBC News from Worlds studio so that means Sport Today and World Business Report will be in HD Very Happy
As far as I'm aware similcasting the news channel's output on BBC One doesn't upscale to HD.

Don't know what you are trying to say?

BBC One HD shows SD content upscaled to HD, and HD content in HD. The SD version of BBC One is now a straight HD->SD downconvert of BBC One HD. (Yes - this means SD content on BBC One SD has been up- and down-converted via HD... Luckily there isn't much of it left - and even less when BBC One News bulletins go HD)

All the new studios at Broadcasting House are running in HD (though lots of the pre-recorded material is upscaled SD), so as long as the route to BBC One at Red Bee in the Broadcast Centre (W12) is HD end-to-end, then the overnight service should be HD on BBC One HD. There is likely to be some network switching in the path BBC One take (so that they take the same feed whichever studio is originating the overnight service?) but that should be HD.

It's not much different to Newsnight being HD on the BBC HD channel (soon to be replaced by BBC Two HD) - apart from some more complex network routing.

They're using a very neat trick at the Vatican, showing the chimney in the bottom right corner whilst talking to guests uninterrupted. Slightly Sky News HD but still very clever and unobtrusive. Hope this means we'll get some slightly more innovative graphics.

Not sure it needs to be quite as big when covering other stories though.

But the problem is for viewers that still see BBC WN in 14:9, like here in the Philippines...
plus the 4:3 safe area, the inset showing the chimney has been cut to half.

i think they should consider going full 16:9 letterbox or stretched.

The big advantage ist that you can see the chimney on BBC World News , because international viewers can't access Sky News HD.

Anyone else also noticed that they now use only capital letters in the ticker and not only at the beginning of each word. Plus the SPORT logo is not yellow anymore.

actually, that's what i want to know...
I'm sure that BBC WN in PAL feeds are now in 16:9, but how about NTSC feeds (Philippines use NTSC)?
All cable & satellite providers that has BBC WN here are still in 14:9...

Actually they had changed that a few days after the relaunch, which I believe were request by BBC Global Minds viewers... and the Yellow SPORT block on the ticker is at random, sometimes in yellow or in white... right now, it's Yellow once again.

Live Bug just swapped sides on World. Must mean that the graphics can be more easily adapted.

It was also shown to the left of the smoke cam box earlier on BBC World.

Would the Live bug not be better suited inset of the smoke cam? So the astons can appear without being affected further?
