Probably a prerecorded interview but he couldnt use studio B cause of GMT and Impact.

So why not use Studio C? Really daft using a studio which looks nothing like the current WN studios.

Didn't Marcus suggest that the interview was pre-recorded at 2215. If so studio C would have been on-air wouldn't it?

And B would have Newsnight in it ....

Though Studio A would surely have been available? I wonder if it was perhaps crewed by the BBC Arabic team?

A is a virtual studio so any set has to be first created! So that means its not available to all programmes if they don't have a VR set!

Has a generic news studio set for A not been created for back up use?

It had a tiny, tiny tweak. But the imagery has been update.

Yes, I've noticed that they changed the video to photos in the titles though, which looks nowhere near as good. And WNA's studio looks a bit out of place, now! I have a feeling that desk is only slightly changed from the BBC World days. That's nothing compared to the Singapore studio, though.

The Washington studio just looks very out of place with the very blue and red branding on the titles. The studio looks very drab and the grey is very pale by means of comparison to the graphics on the screens behind the presenter.

It looked really great before, especially during the elections coverage when an extra virtual floor was keyed on.

The Singapore studio's only saving grace is its view. That's the only good thing I can say.

I don't like that the word "WORLD" appears on screen twice but is written in two different fonts (especially noticeable in the letter "W") during the whole programme.

Agreed, it looks stupid... and despite what the Font-Bashers say about Gill, I think it was an absolutely moronic move to use any other font, when the logo (which is very wordy) uses Gill.

I was always of the mind that you used a font that was either complementary of or distinct from your logo font... not one that was close but not quite the same and created a dischord.

But... the BBC never admits its mistakes so we'll likely have this ridiculous mish-mash for the next five years... and then we'll likely end up with a new design abortion for the five years after that.

Gill worked perfectly well in the last set of graphics... I just cant understand the logic behind changing it.

They've been flitting back and forth between the two since launch, haven't they?

The problem that was created when Gill Sans was chosen as the font is that, being a well known font, it goes in and out of style. Sky News have the advantage of a custom font that matches the logo, and the advantage of the Sky logo not being a particular font, but being designed. That means they can change fonts across the board, and avoid a mish-mash.

BBC News doesn't have that freedom, and it can mean they have a jarring mix of two fonts, or they can use a font that maybe isn't the most workable.

They could potentially solve the problem by having a font made, and restricting Gill Sans to the BBC blocks.
