I hate to be writing this, but just watched my first 5am Newshour, today being my day off so getting the chance to watch it in full.

And I hated the whole thing. It was a clunky, delayed, hideous mess. Film not playing. Music not playing. Scripts messed up. Camera angles messy. And the business presenter just irritates the hell out of me. Those flailing arms and everything else.

Poor sound quality too. And the start up sequence is messy. The newspaper review is disjointed. And the two anchor desk shot is messy and contrived.

I really disliked it, which is a shame. The 5am on a Friday was a staple for me. Not sure now.

I just saw this on Global with Jon Sopel , and I haven't seen this studio before...

Sorry, a bit confused by this. What's this all about. Why is Sopel in that studio? Was there a problem with Studio B?

Probably a prerecorded interview but he couldnt use studio B cause of GMT and Impact.

Is the studio that Geeta is in right now also the same studio used by Zeinab Badawi for her programme?

Yeah, Studio C is used before 12 Noon GMT and after 1830 GMT. It is used primarily for BBC World News branded programmes but also Business Edition, World News Today, newsday and overnights

Speaking of studios, since BBC WN programs from 1200 GMT (Asian primetime) and UK Newsnight share the same studio... Sorry for being a bit ignorant, but is Newsnight being recorded at another time or aired Live?

Newsnight is LIVE and airs at 22:30 London time, Monday to Friday.

The recorded one is the weekly World News edition, also done in Studio B. When did they record the weekly one?

So why not use Studio C? Really daft using a studio which looks nothing like the current WN studios.

Didn't Marcus suggest that the interview was pre-recorded at 2215. If so studio C would have been on-air wouldn't it?
