Havent a clue which is the best thread for this.
Is there any reason why BBC TWO cant do an hour of BBC WORLD NEWS at 11am, instead of half NC & half World ads currently, as everyone in the Uk can get the NC?

Surely they could use the BBC News at One presenter to fill that time with UK inserts of stories here. Or, they could use Simon or Carrie once they finish their shift if the One presenter is above such things. Especially since the BBC One summaries at 11am and 12:15 will be gone soon.

Because BBC World takes ad breaks, mid bulletin breaks can easily be filled with extra stories but the BOTH weather break is quite a long one and would be hard to keep BBC Two viewers from switching away.

They would hardly need to use a different presenter to fill those gaps. The main presenter could do it (as they already do to fill the existing opts).

On BBC Global Minds at the moment there is a survey running asking about the new look, along with asking your views on certain programmes (Impact & Global with Jon Sopel) by watching a video.
I think that would work, at 05:25 do they not normally show a weather forecast and then program promos till 05:30 (I haven't watched it for a while). It would be nice to see the full hour on BBC 2 or for them to move the Daily Politics and start showing GMT again.
Thinking about it though, the 5am model hour could work on BBC Two at 11am, BBC World has never been as 'Rolling' as BBC News (24) so present an hour of news like they do on the News channel at 5am and I think it could do well.

I think having the Daily Politics at 12:00 four days a week (and until 13:00 five days a week) makes a lot of sense, I think it's just the 11:00 half hour of NC that doesn't.

I agree with you, I was just thinking that they may have needed a specific program to show on BBC 2 rather than a bog standard bulletin. Mind you, when GMT was on BBC 2 before the Daily Politics was only on for 30 minutes as 12:30 (iirc) and I think it's got better since they moved to an hour slot.

I really can't see why an hour long (30 minutes on Wednesdays) BBC World News wouldn't work. Surely that would be the more sensible option, as there is repetition of news from the NC and WN at the moment (and WN also has to start again essentially at the bottom of the hour....), it would also be less confusing jumping between bulletins and presenters....
