I must drop-in to collect the actual "Hub". The one which Nik Gowing used to stand behind! It's been promised to me, only they couldn't find a jiffy bag big enough to post it off.

So, I must collect.

Should I wear jacket and tie, JUST in case they ask me to do "Impact"?

You've actually been promised the 'Hub'? You better get there before it ends up in a skip! I'm presuming this is to aid a real-life N8 reconstruction? Wink Is the old desk already in the post?

Does BBC Four often crash into World New Today mid-sentence?

Yes, the old desk and the newswall arrived today. I'm setting them up as we speak, although none of the components fits atop my Black and Decker workbench.

What the hell!

I'll just watch Zeinab crashing into BBC4 over and over again.

Whatever you do, just make sure you calibrate the BARCOs.

Are you serious!? Surprised WOW! That's fantastic! Did they just give the stuff to you or did you have to pay them??

Well unless Tim Willcox plans on sitting on the floor for the 21:30 segment on the News Channel, I would imagine it's still there.

I wouldn't fancy the shipping costs for a load of Barcos all the way to Dubai either - anyone who's seen the size of the things (plus the huge boxes and crates they come in) will know they won't fit in your average living room Laughing

I asked them for some stuff as well. They're sending me all the lights, two miles of copper cabling, and the obituary ties.

Sadly all I managed to get was Tim Wilcox. He just appears on my sofa at random times for very long shifts.

In jeans.

And puts his feet on the coffee table, with his shoes on!

Havent a clue which is the best thread for this.

Is there any reason why BBC TWO cant do an hour of BBC WORLD NEWS at 11am, instead of half NC & half World ads currently, as everyone in the Uk can get the NC?
Because BBC World takes ad breaks, mid bulletin breaks can easily be filled with extra stories but the BOTH weather break is quite a long one and would be hard to keep BBC Two viewers from switching away.

Studio C works really well with the two presenter format.

No, I didn't have to pay a thing. It was all free. By the way, the desk they sent me is not the main one from N8, but the small high desk that used to occupy the pod to the right of the main set. They also sent me the two high chairs/stools used by the presenters at that desk too, although I fear they've been around a lot longer than the desk. When I blew the dust off one of them, it had the name of Val Doonican printed on the back! And, as you all know, its ages since he last read the news on the BBC News Channel.

When you say I need to "calibrate" the BARCOS, how does one do that?

Modern day World News: the Focus on Africa set and colouring is just magnificent, don't you think? Along with Impact, I think both of those strands have impeccable use of the lighting options at NBH so far. Really like them both. It's just a pity that some other aspects of one of those programmes is not quite as much to my liking.

Barco, anyone?
