First weekend of broadcasing from NBH and we've got Martin Dennis.... notably forgetting she's broadcasting to the world 'these are our top stories this morning'.

Martine!

That's her trademark. She reminds me of a loveable Auntie!

New vamp after the titles or is that me just noticing something that has been around for ages? Looks amazing in HD !!

Yes the titles have a new hold at the end of the titles.

So, this has gone then has it? (taken from behind the scenes on Impact - sorry to keep banging on about this!)

Clearly, yes.

You're both wrong... the screen is clearly visible at 07:22 on the most recent edition of World News Today on the iPlayer. The difference in visibility from different angles is probably down to the strange angle it is being projected from.

I don't think either of us were suggesting there is no longer a screen there, but clearly it's been replaced by a different panel. Moz pointed out the differences a few pages back.

It has 100% been replaced, its no longer smart glass but a proper permanent projection screen. They couldn't get decent contrast with the smart glass so dropped it.

Interesting tidbit: There is no floor 1 in NBH Smile

Is the smart glass also being replaced in Studio E?

I don't really know what to make of the new BBC World surroundings. Yes, it looks fresh and different, but I'm not totally convinced yet that it's that much of an improvement. From the bits and pieces I've seen, the channel now feels very studio-bound and less 'live' than it has since the mid-90s. It's amazing how much energy a working newsroom as a backdrop gives a news channel. This is probably the biggest shame about BBC World's move to NBH.

I'm also a little disappointed that the titles and music hasn't been significantly updated. Yes, the new countdown and its music is very nice, but the titles and other music is all very much the same as it has been for up to 5 years. When the move to NBH was announced many years ago, I really expected it to herald a new on-screen identity, so this just feels like a missed opportunity and 'more of the same'.

Probably the biggest musical disappointment is the new WBR music. It's rubbish compared to the 1997 flags theme. That was very catchy and memorable whereas this is just more beeps and crashes with no discernible tune at all.

So, overall I'm not blown away. It's nice to have a change and some more dynamic use of studios but part of me thinks the channel will become stale after a while.

Absolutely agree - and I'd also say that to the casual viewer the news countdown hasn't even changed that much too. I don't really see what the fuss is about.

In a way to the studios are probably a few years too late - they'd have been brilliant in the era when the view really was "bigger is better" - but over the last couple of years there seems to have been a move back to basics generally with the news with unnecessary add-ons ditched in favour of sitting behind a good old desk. It also seems a bit pointless that most of these new studios essentially look the same.

I really dislike the new main world studio I just don't like the cameras being 'part of the set' to me they should be hidden also the desk isn't to my liking either, and to me the camera track makes the studio look really busy and cluttered! it also makes the camera shake a lot too! this is just a few small things I don't like but they don't effect the program in any way! and I agree it may look stale quite quickly!

The Cameras don't shake at all, from what I've seen they've moved really smoothly (except WHYS). And at least they do move now.

Yes, the tracking shot they use when handing over the business presenter at the secondary presentation point is incredibly bumpy. It rattles around and the focus blurs as it lumbers towards the presenter. I assume it's fixable as all the other cameras and shots seem flawless.

If I can just throw some pointless critiques out into the aether; I think their approach to 'dynamic presentation' seems undercooked and needs a lot of polish.

Firstly, I think their use of Studio C has been very disappointing so far. With the dolly cameras I was expecting to see some very fluid, jib-like presentation but they've just been sticking to stationary shots of the presenter or the side screens. When they do move, the unique circular configuration goes unnoticed as they limit the cameras to very short paths.
Overall the presentation feels no more dynamic than the old TVC bulletins. How about the presenter reading from a camera as it travels around its full path? Getting the presenter out of the chair and onto the walkway with the plasmas?

In contrast, the bulletins and programmes coming from Studio B go to far the other way. Almost every story has a custom photocollage background and a massive jib shot which lasts for the entire read. It's too much, there needs to be more use of a generic backdrop and close presenter shots to provide contrast.

I don't want to sound too negative as I'm a big fan of the changes overall, and I'm sure of these things improve with time anyway.

I quite like the more traditional presentation of studio C. Wouldn't want BBC with dynamic presentation 24 hours a day. They do enough of it in studio B. Imo they got the balance perfectly.

Seems they are also more willing to drop regular schedule for breaking news, they did it for the lasy hour or so.

BBC World News in recent years has been far more 'dynamic' in presentation than that of the News channel. Although I think that's because its commercially driven, rather than funded by a licence fee.

I hope that when the News channel moves to studio E, the team are a bit more creative than they are with N6 - but we'll just have to wait and see.

What i've seen of BBC World News at NBH and comparing it to the BBC News channel, still in TVC - it looks a lot fresher, modern and vibrant.
