Confirmed by Kasia on Twitter. Babita Sharma is away for a month. Ben Bland is away. Lucy Hockings is away. Kasia is covering GMT this week. Rico is doing Newsday alone this week. Kasia returns to join him next week.

And I still haven't received the call-up.......

Nice to see Tanya Beckett back to doing Friday mornings on The World Today. Aaron Heslehurst will no longer appear in the slot given the launch of his new show later in the day.

I imagine the people scheduled for vacation in June had to quickly reschedule. I imagine that's why the usual backups are not in place.

I think it's more down to a higher than normal number of maternity leaves and extended absences as well as a couple of departures putting a strain on freelance budget rather than anything related to the general election.

Awesome titles and vamp, again BBC World News setting new standards of BBC News presentation, only thing though why is the name in Myriad Pro, but on the screen the name is in Helvetica and the end titles the name font is also in Helvetica Confused

Some small changes I've noticed on BBC World News. Not sure how recent. The endcards of promos and 'Coming Up' slides have been rejigged, with the text now centred. Icons for TV, radio and online also appear below.

For my money, the BBC World theme from the clip shown above is the best incarnation of the "beep" theme music. Very pacey, very atmospheric.

So much so, it is in fact my ringtone on my phone.

It's very 'American Cable News', but in an amazing way!

World News America isn't in their usual studio. They're coming from the DTL studio with the live feed of the White House.
