Didn't least long and seemed to be cursed by niggly technical issues.

The evening business show seems to be cursed anyway. Isn't this the third time the evening business programme has been axed?

Yes I was going to say that. It's always axed and reinstated!

What are the bets it'll get put back in some shape or form a few months later?

To me, it makes sense to put it at 9:30pm and show it both in the UK and around the world.

I've noticed over the past year there have been several incidents of programs at the BOTH and those that are scheduled after the 10 minute bulletins on weekends starting ahead of their scheduled time. One show that frequently starts the back half hour before :30 past is Outside Source. It's not a big deal as people are likely already watched the first half hour and are continuing on with the show. In most instances they start a minute early (where you're less likely to miss pertinent information) but today's 08:30 GMT edition of Dateline London started three minutes early.

I know it's not the end of the world but a minor inconvenience especially with DVRs.

WNT from Washington tonight, presumably will be the case until the US election (at least Monday-Thursday).

I noticed this screw up of the Ticker around 0400 GMT and it's now 1915GMT and hasn't been fixed.

Has 16:9 and HD finally reached North America? I remember them being infamous for 14:9 SD.

Yeah, most cable providers (notable exception is Verizon) have HD feeds, as are all PBS simulcasts. I actually switched from Verizon to Sling IPTV just to access BBC World News in HD.

I still get the 14:9 letterboxes into a 4:3 frame.

14:9 has never been used widespread in North America. It's always been 4:3 or 16:9 - the only times you've seen 14:9 were in imports or in some Discovery Channel productions.

The screen grab I used was from Comcast's TV app. It takes the TVEverywhere (think of iPlayer live streams but with your subscription TV login for authorization) feed from channels that offer it and places it all in one place. You can see all the channels offered through Comcast's XFINITY TV app here. Additionally they allow you to stream every channel in you receive on your device when your in your house (think of TV in the bathroom Wink ).

Almost all channels have HD simulcasts - I get around 120 HD channels - unfortunately Comcast only carries the most popular ones. So no BBC World News in HD for me except through the app.

Still 4:3 and SD with my provider in Canada and sometimes having local ad inserts cutting into the TOTH headlines (by a few seconds but still...). At least we get CNN US's nauseating election coverage in HD. Yay!
