On overnights, when the news gallery are sustaining the news channel, you'll occasionally see flashes of uk trails on the world output - this is unfortunate but is a downside of world pres not having clean studio output to cut to. The news directors aim to hit opt points cleanly but sometimes don't quite get them spot on.

Does studio C have the same facility used in studio A for the 8pm split output? Couldn't that be used to send the first frame of a sting to World pres during the last UK trail, then roll the sting on both outputs (or a different sting on both) when the UK output cuts to it? That way World will just see that frozen first frame (in a similar way to network bulletins on the NC) rather than a flash of a UK trail if the timings are a few frames out.

I am assuming that could be built as a template in Mosart well in advance? Or does that massively complicate things and risk cockups?

Today marks a year since the new Singapore studio was first used on air. Doesn't time fly!

Still the strangest thing I've ever seen on BBC News.

Sounds like unnecessary, personal comments to me. But hey, that's just my observation.

Just came across this on TV Ark. Didn't realise BBC World News existed in this form as early as 1987. Apparently the BBC had an arrangement to produce content for third parties branded as "BBC World News", before officially launching BBC World Service Television in 1991.

I'd seen these on YouTube a few months ago and wondered what they were for. I've never seen them before. This predates even the World Service Television channels for Asia and Europe. The Europe one evolved into BBC Prime but originally was a mix of BBC one and two programming, a lot of it simulcast with the domestic channels, so there were some very interesting challenges for the presentation directors leaving one channel and joining the other, especially if they were live programmes and therefore the on and off air times were entirely flexible.

Why on earth do the Business Live presenters stare at each other for a few seconds at the start of each broadcast? Painful to watch as you know it's coming!

I for one would find it difficult to avoid staring lovingly into Ben Thompson's big blue eyes, if I were sat anywhere near him... Wink

It has been known for one of the presenters to crack a joke just before they go on-air, which has led to the giggling or a wide grin at the start.

Business Live is one of my favorite shows. Many things happen in 25 minutes. The Inside track section is usually quite interesting (depends on the guest).

Maybe some kind of good luck ritual. When Aaron is hosting he seems to make a joke right before the show goes live and can see a chuckle. Aaron also sometimes seems to flirt at the top as well.
