Huhh? But, today is Tuesday.
There was the usual 5.47am paper review on yesterday - during the strike.

On a side issue with the paper review, around 5.52 every morning watching the BBC One output, there is a momentary crackle on the audio, and the ticker jumps slightly backwards or forwards.

What's happening here? Is it Red Bee/Ericsson 'taking' back full output control of BBC One from BBC World?

My apologies, the strike was Monday into Tuesday.

The jump during the papers is when the news channel is switched away from Studio C to E. Studio E runs a weather at the end of the World News bulletin. BBC One leave after the weather, E then plays some trails and a countdown to the News Channel only before switching Breakfast to air.

Sounds like a lot of effort for just before 6am, they should just simulcast NC on BBC1 straight through.

It's an important junction for BBC One though, and an opportunity for specific trails for the BBC One audience plus a live announcement into Breakfast. Far more people watch Breakfast on BBC One than via the News Channel. It's also covered by news staff already on duty, so isn't at additional cost.

I assume Studio E is switched out once Breakfast is on the air?

Are the BBC One and Two schedules at this time of day such that one announcer and director is used for both channels? To me given that when Breakfast has fallen off air before due to an evacuation playout didn't take control it seems expensive to run them separately when I presume news are able to run the trailers or do they not run them on the weekend programme?

I believe Aaron is away and Ben is in Salford. So, some gaps in the summer roster.

Does Geeta still present this slot? Haven't seen her much.

I think Breakfast covered their own evacuation on that occasion by choosing to switch to World output because they are also responsible for the News Channel output. NC1 could have gone to breakdown for BBC One, but the News Channel doesn't have a presentation department - studios are switched to air as necessary, and during Breakfast that's Salford.

And yes, once Breakfast is on air, Salford is switched directly to the News Channel output.

Geeta does still present the 8am slot, usually 2-3 days per week. Although lately, she's been all over the roster as the summer silly season approaches. She did Weekend News on Sunday, Global on Monday and, as LL said, World News Today on Tuesday.

Ali Moore (normally in Singapore) presenting the news this morning - not in the normal studio by the looks of it.
